Luke Bolton to leave in the January transfer window and James Wilson back for a second spell at Moor Lane till the end of the season? ? His contract is up in the summer and I doubt he is happy with the current drop off versus last seasons playoff appearance so might as well cash in. Personally think he hasn’t kicked on as much as I thought he would, appreciate the flip flopping tactically by the current head coach hasn’t helped. Watt, Hendry, Smith, McLennan, Vassell, Dackers, Mallan, Lund, N’Mai, Mariappa are also out of contract at the end of the season. Wouldn’t be shocked if bids come in for Watt in Jan, especially north of the border who can put contracts to these players on Jan. 1st. Stockport were rumoured to be after Hendry before his injury. Again we might look to cash in rather than lose him for free in summer. I'd be asking about Madden coming the other way, he ripped us a new one in the EFL trophy

Just seeing a couple of posts in other threads got me thinking about our possible recruitment/outgoings in the January window which starts next week. I have a feeling one or more of Bolton, Watt and Hendry might leave and I would imagine Bailey will either stay at Stockport for the season or move permanently. I'm also sure John will be legging it back up the M61 as fast as he can when his loan ends this week so there's a gap there. I wonder if WBA will recall Ingram too.
Apart from filling those gaps what positions we recruit to depends on who we get back from being off sick. Currently that's Hendry, Bolton, Shephard, Mallan, Ashley (I fear he might be unable to continue at all), Watson, Vassell.
Assuming a worst case scenario and we have only one fit full back then a RB and LB are a must. I'd also be looking for an extra CB. A bit of pace and guile in midfield and another forward option too just to get us to the end of the season. Finally I'd be looking to bring in some genuine competition for Cairns as our loanees tend to just sit on the bench and help him warm up.
Normally I'd say we would look at loanees to fill some of those spaces but I doubt any club is going to want their young player in a L2 relegation scrap so I think it might mean us trawling through the out of contract and expiring players list. Much will depend on who is daft/brave enough to take our manager job and what they feel we are lacking.

I think we’ll be going all out for loans.

Much will depend on who is daft/brave enough to take our manager job and what they feel we are lacking. Fully fit this squad even minus John and Ingram we shouldn’t be where we are. The issue I envisage is what do you prioritise - manager (or Head Coach) first, or getting some bodies in to replace the ones mentioned. Bolton, Watt, Bailey, Watson, Vassell, Smith, and Hendry’s deals expire at the end of the season so now is the last chance to cash in - trying to get some money for Bailey from Stockport seems like a no brainer. I would be thinking about moving Bolton on for a fee and purely by way of clarity of thought for the wide right position long term wouldn’t be a bad thing. His production this season when has been shocking - he averages 13 ball carries per game (averaging 12.81meters, 7.1m of that are deemed progressive), considering this is his main strength he has produced 10 key passes, 1 assist and no goals in 16 games roughly. I think Scholes and Ross Duncan need to be creative, maybe Jesse Lingard will fancy 6 month L2 relegation fight with David De Gea in net - that will put them right in the window for a big move next season. Wages and Joking aside, I think multiple options in wide areas, a number ten and CB would be priorities. I do think N’Mai and Berkoe of the younger lads have shown this is a level they can perform at so that’s a plus, Luamba, Humbles, Dackers I don’t think are quite there yet to supplement what we have but I do think they should’ve been more involved over the last 18months. We do have 5 subs and play 120 minutes these days.

Declan John has been told by Bolton that he can move on in their window as he’s not in their future plans. He’s hoping Salford pick up his loan deal for the rest of the season.

odins loan ends on the 6th. From interview sounds like we want him but all 3 parties need to come to agreement (obviously) but there's been rumours you want 6 figures for him which is too much. Sounds like if a deal is to be done it will be later on in the month but honestly around 25k should be more than enough considering he's out of contract and doesn't want to be at Salford

We're in a relegation fight. The difference in league payouts between L2 and the NL is around 1 million. We need around 23 more points for safety. That's 43.5k per point needed. 25k would mean nothing reinvesting into someone else. If Stockport don't meet our asking price Bailey will not move. He'd be more valuable to us sitting on the bench than selling for that amount. 25k? No.

He can't sign for anyone else as he's played for both clubs this season. So there's 2 options Option 1 is we sign him for whatever and you're done with him Option 2 is we dont sign him, you keep him and carry on paying his wage and then lose money instead of making money. If the asking price of 200k is true he'd be one of, if not our most expensive player. Yet we have madden, sarcevic, horsfall and powell.

No. 25k wouldn’t cover the value of the contract for the next 6months because that would put him on shy of a grand a week. He’ll be on double that but the idea it’s going to be raining fifties selling Bailey is fancy full. It’ll be an undisclosed fee at a knock down and a bonus for promotion and appearances at best.

Purely based on form, would you sign him on a permanent deal? I would on a Smith - style deal, and move Garbutt into midfield primarily with Berkoe as cover. Then concentrate on a RB/RWB.
