Rather than who we should defo keep and who should go, who are your 50/50s, regardless of contract or loan status?
A controversial one for me would be Touray. It could be harsh because he plays every game, but if he stays, I’d like to see him cross the ball quicker and have the skill and confidence to cross it without the need to stop the ball. I don’t expect a perfect right foot, but a little work to do there. But I think he played better towards the end of the season.
Galbraith is also a 50/50. Not a first choice with the coach and I wonder if we have enough midfielders? But he has the potential to develop a lot more.
Morton…not sure about him. Hasn't been too impressive but to be fair, has hardly played. Again he has the potential to get better and we need some time investment in some of our players.
Berkoe has never been given a decent chance, but I think he’s done ok when he’s played. I’m 50/50 on him purely because we don’t seem to have any intention of playing him.
Anyone want to chuck any others in?

Leak has been very erratic, but he's young so maybe worth persisting with as back up to a better quality CB. He's about my only undecided as most of the others I have definite views about either way.

If our budget is the same as this year, then we may have to sacrifice some players who may improve. Take a chance and release them.

I think Lund is a 50/50 - he isn’t a starter for me but I think is a good spoiler in the middle towards the end of games. And does pop up with goals.
I think midfield is an area where there needs to be more clarity with tactics the head coach wants to put out next season.

Nothing of great interest here. What they do next will tell us more. Released: Elliot Simões Adrian Mariappa James Melhado Richard Nartey Adam Porter Matt Sargent Josh O’Brien Shane McLoughlin Colin Oppong Under contract Elliot Watt Callum Hendry Odin Bailey Stevie Mallan Matt Smith Kevin Berkoe Luke Bolton Ryan Leak Callum Morton Kelly Nmai Marcus Dackers Djavan Pedro Theo Vassell I assume we'll want to ditch one or two from the above list if we can? Re-engaged with: Ibou Touray Ryan Watson Matty Lund Conor McAleny Joel Torrance Liam Shephard I'm surprised we're re-engaging with Lund. No suggestion at this point on whether any of the returning Loanees will be pursued, but we have two keepers leaving. Alex Cairns Giosue Bellagambi Ethan Galbraith Louie Barry Jack Jenkins

It's a real shame that Louie Barry has to go back. He was exciting to watch.
... and he did actually score his penalty.

No real surprises with those leaving the club although with Cairns and Bellagambi's loans having finished we're left with just one goalkeeper, that being the inexperienced Joel Torrance who is in current negotiation regarding a future contract. I'd be more than happy if we signed Cairns on a permanent deal and I see Ibou Touray is again in discussion with the club. I seem to remember him and his agent holding out up until virtually the last minute at the beginning of this season for a much improved offer. Will be interesting to see whether there are any approaches made for some of our better performers, contract or no contract!

I reckon it's worth me doing a podcast about the decisions on these lists and I plan to get it recorded and released in the next few days. For any regular listeners to the One Up Front - Salford City FC podcast then you'll know that I have already used views of posters from this message board as a reference point for my thoughts and ideas. I haven't had anyone contact me yet to let me know they're not happy with being quoted but if anyone would rather me not mention them on the pod then please feel free to let me know as I wouldn’t want to overstep the line at all.
Last thing, as I record the podcast on my own then I've had thoughts that it would likely benefit from the direct contributions of other fans. I did try this for an episode earlier this season but technical difficulties and wifi problems meant that recording multiple parties via Spotify didn't seem to work correctly. Hopefully in future I can get this glitch sorted so if any fans would be interested in joining me for an episode on the pod then just let me know and i’ll see what I can do.

Pleased to see no mass exodus of players with a few more than I expected in discussion re staying. Maybe the penny has dropped re a bit of stability in the squad. Key areas for signings this summer are keeper x 2, centre back x 2 and a proper defensive midfielder. I'd also like to see some proper competition in both full back places and some genuine width on the left side of attack. I'd expect no more than 5 or 6 permanent signings plus the usual 2 or 3 loans rather than the dozen or so new players we've seen in the past. Roll on the window opening, let's hope we can do some early business this year.

I'm not surprised at Matt Lund. He offers a lot and has changed games when he has come on as a sub.
