We’ll live to regret Bolton leaving. I don’t get the comments that he was useless. Wood played him at wing back half the time. He’ll be in league 1 next season and thriving.
Us? There won’t be a huge pot of money in the close season. We’re heading for the National league within 3 seasons.

Dan Chesters a 21 year old pacy winger arrives on loan from West Ham. I wonder who on earth he'll be replacing?

He might be better than Bolton...great. But he won't stay of he's with Wet Spam. I wish we'd invest in players rather than stop-gaps.

I had hoped we would not sign anyone. Some supporters would have been angry but not signing anyone would have been best long term. Either Chesters plays and takes away time from the development of Luamba/N'Mai or he doesn't play and it adds to our reputation as a team that doesn't give minutes to loan players. Barry not receiving minutes he had earned is part of the reason chose Stockport last summer.
I also feel we missed the chance to cash in on some other players that will leave in the summer. We can only spend 55% of turnover each year on wages and with ticket sales, sponsors, kit sales much less than other teams, I hoped we would have more incoming transfer funds to use in July.

I was surprised it was only Bolton out and Chesters in - was expecting 1 or 2 more loans but if this is a move to rationalise things going into the summer based on the out of contract guys I am ok with it. We have enough to be looking at a mid table finish in my mind.
On Luke Bolton’s sale to Wrexham, the proximity to the game today and the arrival of Karl Robinson has ruffled some feathers and understandably. But there is an argument the teams profligacy in front of goal over the season til now and his own ambition mean this move is good for both parties. Which I think is KRs sentiment in his pre game comments for today.
In the round Luke Bolton developed more by playing at L2 level than any actual engagement from the manager… or head coach. I don’t feel he got much from Neil Wood as his game didn’t change at all from day 1 - ball carry’s, chance creation, goals and assists predominantly due to his speed - have been consistently his primary attributes. Bolton is 3rd in the league this season for chances created per game at 2.07 per 90. The conversion is 0.27 - so one goal roughly every 8 chances created. As a compare his expected assists is lower than Luke Molyneux at Doncaster, Leko at MK Dons, Kyle McAllister at FGR, and Jodi Jones at Notts County to name a few.
His stand out stat in this Salford team is Total Chance Creating Carries with 29 - as side note here McAleny has 26 over the same period. Taking just those two numbers and factoring in Smith’s 18 Goals you can see why its a relatively easy fix for KR in having an emphasis on getting more crosses and players is the box to improve our goal scoring threat.
Since confirmation of the move I kept thinking about the FGR game, where one of the stand outs was Garbutt, Watt, Ingram and Bolton’s shorter crosses from the corners of the 18 yard box. Smith thrived on this and Watson’s box crashing caused havoc on the day and it’s been noticeable on the road also. With Garbutt and a returning Shep who’s delivery is better and more accurate than Bolton from the right this I hope we will keep this emphasis on maximising Smiths aerial threat and to keep him higher up the pitch til the end of the campaign. A returning Hendry I think will prosper like Watson has of late also.
I was a fan of Bolton and I wish him well, his move shouldn’t cause any doom and gloom going into the back 9 of the season though as there is still quality in this group.

I can’t see Luamba and N’Mai getting less game time because in rotation off our left they offer very different (arguably our best) challenges to the opposition RB as opposed to going with Connor Mac or even Garbutt higher up ahead of Declan John. Not seen much of either Chesters or Davies anywhere, but what I have seen of Chesters is he is very good at getting to the byline and cutting the ball back on an angle, especially hard low driven crosses into the middle of the box. I think for not the deepest squad we have a good number of rotations whether that’s in game or week to week. Our best signing around the window is Karl Robinson in my opinion- because at least he has the willingness to use the squad tin its fullest o win games.

Great news. Really rate him, he seems to have a decent mix of everything. Physically he's more than up to it as well for a young lad

Great news about Luamba. He’s going to be a real star. I hope we’ve got a high clause in his contract.
But on this page are the comments about Bolton going to Wrexham. I’ve just checked and he’s been there for 7 games and I think he’s only started one game, and that was as a wing back. Perhaps money isn’t everything?

Yes be careful what you wish for he'd have been a guaranteed starter for us

Luamba’s deal is fully deserved. Hopefully N’Mai, Watt, Vassell and Hendry follow suit sooner rather than later.
