We haven't played ok for some time. Having bags of chances after they had scored and shut up shop, shouldn't hide the fact that we couldn't score against the worst team in the league. We are now 17th in the form league and have the worst form of all the teams around us.
Hopefully, the players all have full length mirrors at home so they can spend the next two days taking a long, hard look again themselves.

Funny, I don't recall seeing you at the game, Chris.
A statistical analysis would likely show that we had the lion's share of possession and chances created. However, we never once gave their goalkeeper a real test. I can only recall a long-range effort from Burton in this first half that was parried then smothered and a close-range header in the second in terms of shots on target. In my opinion, it was a performance marred by too much long-ball play and many silly decisions in key areas.
I think the dejected look on the players' faces at full time told the story. It will be very interesting to hear how Jonno approaches the post-match interview.

It will be very interesting to hear how Jonno approaches the post-match interview. Sorry, I didn't realise I had to be there to make a comment or take part in a debate. I'll try and remember this in the future. But just this once, I'll comment based on the audio commentary I listened to. No amount of possession or shots on goal means anything if you lose. Granted, if this was just one of those strange games where nothing would go right for us, we could take comfort from that. But in the last couple of months, we've had lots of games like this. So it's not a fluke or a freak.....it's down to poor play and poor decision making. It's down to the players reverting to lumping the ball forward at every opportunity, like a really bad pub team. It's down to some players not really giving a stuff. It's down to players getting sent off for stupid and trivial things. It's down to players who haven't got the bottle to see the season out. Finally, it's down to the managers who pick the team and have to find some way to try and motivate players to try and get the club over the line and into play off games that could see is promoted. I've seen enough games to know that today was pretty much like every game in the last couple of months. And to be honest, I'm sick of seeing that 'dejected look on players faces' and the determination they show on Twitter, vowing to 'put it right' when 'we go again' in the next game. The trouble is, they talk a good game but are playing like a scratch team that have never even met. I don't see anything in your post that either changes my mind or really contradicts anything I'm saying. But then I'm not as committed a fan as you obviously. So I could be wrong!

First things first congratulations to Gainsborough for a brilliant defensive display this afternoon.Secondly How someone can make a such a sweeping statement about a game, when they were not present is beyond me.Now the game itself what seemed like a youthful Gainsborough side after scoring a good goal midway into the first half. Proceeded keep us at bay through resolate and skillful defending coulpled with our own ineptitude.I have said this before we are turning into Wimbledon, but as someone said coming back we are not as successful. Now if they are not being told to play that way, then they want to be put right, and start playing some football.Gainsborough certainly didn't play like the worst team in the league.I am sure all of us at the game today will agree.

Put your toys back in the pram, Chris. You can state whatever opinion you wish as many times as you feel you must. However, I was making reference to the "thoughts of those who went" line written by the original poster.

Facts are we didn't score, we've dropped silly points of late and we're letting a good season go horribly wrong.

Thoughts Therefore up for anyone to have their say, and remember it's a forum for people to have their say, so stop trying to be clever and let's have a debate.

And you and your dad need to calm down
I've contributed to a debate in the main section of my first post. You'll find it just below the throwaway sentence that references the "thoughts of those who went please" line of the original poster.
Nobody is disputing your right to post an opinion on a forum, and it seems as if our opinions are in the same ball park anyway.

Sounds like all the games since our owners announced we are going full time and B&J have a 2 year contract.
Here is my opinion:
Forget the play offs, even if we scrape it, we won't beat Stockport or Halifax. All the players who have no intention of going full time are now playing at 90%, and it shows. Wholesale clear out in the summer is planned. B&J don't seem to have a plan B, l reckon the big boys league is finding them out. They won't last all next season. Kiddy and Fylde aside, our record against top half teams this season is poor, not good enough for a team with the ambition we claim to have. We resort to hoofball too much and that is down to B&J. The CLof92 boys will start to realise how tough getting to League2 will be, never mind higher, next season. Look at Forest Green, with all their money, for example.
Now shoot me down, by all means, but see how much I'm right about next April. Looking forward to the journey though. Up the ammies!
