Ok Chris let's turn up on Monday and be negative, let's stand there at the end of the game and berate the players for missing chances! I was at the game and it was nothing like you have made it out to be, we missed chance after chance. Only a couple of them were actually on target but wether they're on target or not they're still misses. What is the point of your reply apart from being pissed off that I'm trying to be positive that we're 5th in the Conf North with 3 games to go FFS! Form has been crap, performances haven't been what they were but as I've said above it's Conf North football, swings and roundabouts! I've never turned up and been negative and never in my life, have I berated players at the end of a game. I have refused to applaud them, but never berated them. This is a forum. This is where we discuss and debate our club. This is where we get rid of our frustrations out of our system, so we can support the team at the game. Hope that makes my position clear? So we missed chance after chance and only had a couple on target....against the worst team in the league. Was this the chance for our players to show us what they're made of or not? You say that you're trying to be positive and suggest I'm attacking you for that. I'm not. I've been saying for the last two months that there's still time to find some form and take that into the playoffs. The playoff will be won on current form, not form over the last few months. But games are running out. If I take issue with anything you say, it's the suggestion that the players will turn up when the going gets tough. There's a suggestion in that statement that the players are good enough and when they really need to, they will turn it on. Should it need to get to the last dregs for these talented players to turn up? But as I've stated before, there's mitigating circumstances as to why perhaps we're on the run we are! My hope is that the lads who are still putting in 100% can somehow drag the rest through and get us into the playoffs. The belief is that we've got numerous players that have been here and done it before and their experiences along with the managers and coaches pull the rest through it!

I've been thinking of a good thing that happened on Friday and the only thing that comes to mind is the never ending Bernard and jonnos red and white army chant!

im still putting this bad run down to the timing of announcing of going full time and handing out player contracts.
This should have all happened in the close season We have looked poor ever since

A Salford fan, Sorry for the belated reply (if one was required at all, perhaps not)...
We will have to agree to differ, I'm afraid. I don't doubt the players are amiable and good to talk to but the drop off in performances has been marked since the announcements. I don't blame them. Why bust a gut to get promotion and then let go?
I also suggest B&Js plans B, C and D you speak of have passed me by, sorry don't see it. Freshening things up beyond 75 mins, is not a plan, which is all I ever see happening. They got the job, as you rightly suggest, on past performances. This seasons performances against the top 10 have not been good enough. Perhaps due to the one thing we can agree on, we need a ruthless striker desperately. They cost money.
You may well be right to say we are not in the mould of a Fylde or FG, but if the Cl of 92 believe they can get to the EFL without spending big at some point, then it won't be happening. Personally, I'm happy with NL footy, EFL 1 & 2 are full of hoofball teams with a brute up front. I'd sooner watch attractive passing football at a lower level, but that's just me.
I hope B&J make some good full-time signings in the summer, should be a good watch if they do. Up the Ammies!

The only thing I will say on the announcement. If the club had waited until the close season, and things had gone pear shaped. We would have been saying they should have done it sooner.

And as many as I have already said, the only common denominator in it all is the timing of announcement. Before that we were absolutely flying and at one point could have potentially pushed Fylde all the way!
Saleford, you say that why should the players play at 100% when they know they won't be here but that is exactly what the problem is. Individuals rather than the group downing tools due to knowing they won't be here.
Fo me your pointing the finger at the management is ridiculous when actually you've already stated where and what the problem is.

As plausible as it may sound would any player really 'down tools' and deliberately under perform if he hadn't been awarded a new contract? Perhaps one or two might say they're not particularly arsed but wouldn't ones own personal pride dictate that you do still do your best for all your fellow team mates. Perhaps if I was a player who wasn't being kept on I think I'd like to play out of my skin, earn a possible play off winners final medal and then stick two fingers up at the management and then say "I told you I was good enough". Surely also those who know they are going should be looking to perform even better to impress any future potential employers who might be looking to secure their services next season. And really, once the whistle has blown at the start of the game will any player who knows he's with us only till the conclusion of the present season really be thinking about anything other than winning or performing well for the next 90 minutes?
Perhaps the timing of the announcement was wrong with the existing squad members but it shouldn't have had any impact on the 'target' players who have already signed on for next season and who should have been sworn to secrecy about our decision to go full time until it was officially and ideally announced at the end of the season.

Yes you could say it's gone pear shaped.El Chapo is of the opinion it's gone that way because of the timing of the announcement IE player retention.I just offered, it could have gone the same way if nothing had been said.Surely you agree.
