First things first congratulations to Gainsborough for a brilliant defensive display this afternoon.Secondly How someone can make a such a sweeping statement about a game, when they were not present is beyond me.Now the game itself what seemed like a youthful Gainsborough side after scoring a good goal midway into the first half. Proceeded keep us at bay through resolate and skillful defending coulpled with our own ineptitude.I have said this before we are turning into Wimbledon, but as someone said coming back we are not as successful. Now if they are not being told to play that way, then they want to be put right, and start playing some football.Gainsborough certainly didn't play like the worst team in the league.I am sure all of us at the game today will agree. So did we dominate the game and have plenty of shots today? No, I think he said we played like Wimbledon (does he mean we lumped the ball up by any chance?) and we were inept. I think I said something very similar. Funny that you can get the same context by just listening to the game, even when you can't see it. Unless of course, the commentators were not actually saying what they saw? I also wish I had a tenner for every time someone says, "They didn't play like a team at the bottom of the table". Thing is.....most of the time, they do. It's just that we make them look as though they're good.

Take nothing away from Gainsborough they were solid at the back and IMO deserved the win. Another bad day at the office for Salford (again)

Sounds like all the games since our owners announced we are going full time and B&J have a 2 year contract. Here is my opinion: Forget the play offs, even if we scrape it, we won't beat Stockport or Halifax. All the players who have no intention of going full time are now playing at 90%, and it shows. Wholesale clear out in the summer is planned. B&J don't seem to have a plan B, l reckon the big boys league is finding them out. They won't last all next season. Kiddy and Fylde aside, our record against top half teams this season is poor, not good enough for a team with the ambition we claim to have. We resort to hoofball too much and that is down to B&J. The CLof92 boys will start to realise how tough getting to League2 will be, never mind higher, next season. Look at Forest Green, with all their money, for example. Now shoot me down, by all means, but see how much I'm right about next April. Looking forward to the journey though. Up the ammies! Bernard and Jonno are on a learning curve and football history tells us that the most successful managers are those who clubs stick with and let them build their team. They still have a lot to learn and you often do that when things go wrong. It's easy when you're winning. But we also need to remember that we've had successive promotions and life gets harder and harder. So I hope you're wrong about them not seeing next season out and I think you'll be proved wrong. That aside......I agree with every other point you've made!

I'm happy to be corrected by those who were there, but you need to tell us where we have said something that isn't correct.

Again, dude, I refer you to the "thoughts of those who went please" line by the original poster and nothing more. OK, I just don't know while we have to be pedantic, let's collectively discuss the Gainsborough game!

I have been lacking in confidence about our general ability for a number of weeks now as we approach the final hurdle and it is now looking odds on that we will be relying on teams around us to falter as week by week we have lost both the initiative and the advantage that we enjoyed before the present stuttering run of performances kicked in. We didn't play particularly badly today at Gainsborough but there again we didn't perform nearly well enough to break down a packed and resolute defence but admittedly didn't help our cause by continually launching the ball straight down the middle of the park where their defenders took it like food and drink. Once again we managed to get round the back of their defence a few times but never had the final quality or player in the right place to make use of the openings we created. Our attacking fire power really has become blunt and I keep asking why have we brought in loan striker Harry Panayiotou who has played a decent level of football but who doesn't even get a look in? We're looking tired and jaded and it seems every time we make a mistake we get punished for them as we've seen in so many games recently.
After what has - in the main - been a great season all round, it's hugely disappointing then that we appear to be finishing it with a whimper rather than with a bang. Will we make the play-offs? I certainly wouldn't put money on it at this present time and even if we did I wouldn't honestly be confident of progressing any further. I am however more than willing to eat a large portion of humble pie if proven wrong!

Chris on today's performance Gainsborough are not the worst in the League. Also on this occasion I think you are wrong with your mirror comment in regards the players unless you are including the managers also.

I include both players and managers. All need to consider why our performance is not as it should be.

Now shoot me down, by all means, but see how much I'm right about next April. Looking forward to the journey though. Up the ammies! Is this for real or one of them wind up posts pretending to be a Salford supporter, I can't quite figure it out? You say on one hand that the players who probably know they aren't staying are playing at 90% (I would say lower than that) but then say the managers don't have a plan b. If you mean we don't have a ruthless, calculated goal scorer within the squad to put away the endless chances we've created over the last couple of games then I'd say they don't have a plan b but then what plans do any other of the managers in this league have apart from the Fylde one who has the luxury of Rowe. I always think of plan b being a way of changing something that isn't working, as such the managers have changed the formation and brought back JJ from the loan he was on to have more width within the team. I also think plan b is when something totally different is thrown into the mix ie Nottingham being put up front and scoring a 90th minute equaliser. IN MY OPINION the managers have shown not only that they have plan A but they have plans B, C and D covered over the season and recent weeks. Are we privy to what is going on within the changing room? If some of the players have decided not to play at their maximum then it's obvious as to why we've started to struggle since the announcement. One player has signed a new professional contract yet the player next to him has been told he won't be staying. An awful predicament to be in as a team when all that's ever been banged on about it the team spirit and camaraderie. The managers have been handed a 2 year contract because what they did in their first 18 months in charge (one league win, one playoff final win and one unbelievable FA cup run) but also what they have done this season with a group of players that haven't played at this level before. We are mixing it with two full time football clubs and 4/5 big ex league clubs. We're not a Forest Green or Fylde where the owners have thrown money at the team just for the sake of it, we have a team of lads who us as supporters know and understand not only as players but as people. They're a fantastic bunch of lads, before and after the game to speak too but what has happened off the pitch over the last couple of month has certainly affected performances on it. Around February last year, fans were saying we wouldn't make the playoffs and if we did we wouldnt win promotion. During the run in November fans were saying they'd be happy with finishing top half in our first season and again weren't good enough to be near the playoffs. Once again the above is being suggested! I have little or no doubt we'll make the playoffs (maybe deluded of me) because I've seen us against every team in this league and at no point thought they were ahead of us. We're on a blip but we've had them before. When the going gets tough and all that you'll see what these lads are made of.

Well the going has been tough for a few weeks, so is this what they're made of? Or is that still to come? Did we have to wait until it's do or die before these players show what they're made of?
There isn't 7 or 8 games to go. If what you say is true, these players would have shown their worth yesterday, knowing that a loss would give Stockport the upper hand. Luckily, Stockport blew the chance they had last night. I always remain hopeful that we'll suddenly spring into life and I've been telling anyone who will listen that there is still time to build some form for the play off games. On current form, it's going to be tough to win promotion.
It's still in our hands, so if you have a channel to our players, perhaps it's time to remind them that now is their last chance to show us what they're made of.

Ok Chris let's turn up on Monday and be negative, let's stand there at the end of the game and berate the players for missing chances! I was at the game and it was nothing like you have made it out to be, we missed chance after chance. Only a couple of them were actually on target but wether they're on target or not they're still misses. What is the point of your reply apart from being pissed off that I'm trying to be positive that we're 5th in the Conf North with 3 games to go FFS! Form has been crap, performances haven't been what they were but as I've said above it's Conf North football, swings and roundabouts!

Form has been crap, performances haven't been what they were but as I've said above it's Conf North football, swings and roundabouts! I've never turned up and been negative and never in my life, have I berated players at the end of a game. I have refused to applaud them, but never berated them. This is a forum. This is where we discuss and debate our club. This is where we get rid of our frustrations out of our system, so we can support the team at the game. Hope that makes my position clear? So we missed chance after chance and only had a couple on target....against the worst team in the league. Was this the chance for our players to show us what they're made of or not? You say that you're trying to be positive and suggest I'm attacking you for that. I'm not. I've been saying for the last two months that there's still time to find some form and take that into the playoffs. The playoff will be won on current form, not form over the last few months. But games are running out. If I take issue with anything you say, it's the suggestion that the players will turn up when the going gets tough. There's a suggestion in that statement that the players are good enough and when they really need to, they will turn it on. Should it need to get to the last dregs for these talented players to turn up?
