Isn't it going pear shape now? Yes you could say it's gone pear shaped.El Chapo is of the opinion it's gone that way because of the timing of the announcement IE player retention.I just offered, it could have gone the same way if nothing had been said.Surely you agree. It could of, but it's ifs and buts! Contracts shouldn't of been announced until end of season.

Who cares Mozzer! Someone did or is it done well at school? It really annoys me when people use 'of' as verb. It's basic grammar. Nothing to do with how well someone did at school. People should care. The integrity of the English language (at least in its written form) is at stake.

People should care. The integrity of the English language (at least in its written form) is at stake. Whilst I may not be the font of all knowledge regarding the Ammies, I think I'm pretty clued up on how to run a successful football forum, having done it for 12 years on a Bolton Wanderers forum. There are certain things that absolutely turn potential new members off. One is if the forum appears too cliquey. This happens in a number of ways. People agreeing/disagreeing with the same people all the time. Another way this happens is when people use their longevity or frequency as a put-down or to end an argument....."how would you know, you've only been a fan for two years". Or, "What do you know, you don't go to all the games". Nothing wrong with highlighting those points, if they are particularly valid, but never to try and shut someone up. But the number one method of deterring new forum members is when they see that the 'Grammar police' are on duty. I don't like to see poor grammar, but it doesn't really matter. What matters is having a busy, thriving forum, where we can debate and discuss our club. Anyone who knows their grammar and spelling aren't as good as they could be are never going to sign up to a forum where their failings are going to be highlighted. I have a refreshing idea. Let's stop nit-picking about HOW people write and focus on WHAT they write.

To be honest, I'm happy with my level of grammar, I'm not perfect but unless someone was using u instead of you or iz instead of is then I wouldnt be too concerned how people use spelling or grammar.
It's just trying to get a reaction and create an atmosphere.
I'll rise above it, doesn't really bother me, but it just proves that none of us are perfect other than Mozzer.

To be honest, I'm happy with my level of grammar, I'm not perfect but unless someone was using u instead of you or iz instead of is then I wouldnt be too concerned how people use spelling or grammar. Interesting. Now that you've brought it up, I don't like "u" instead of "you" or "iz" instead of "is" either. However, both of those are examples of using a shortened form ("text speak," as I've heard it called) instead of the word in full. Using "of" instead of "have" is simply incorrect (there's a theory that the error - sadly commonplace - comes from the lazy pronunciation of the contracted forms ["should've," "could've," etc.]). I would have left it at that, but I thought that you'd made a very interesting point as to where the line of acceptability is.It's just trying to get a reaction and create an atmosphere. Trust me, it's because "of" instead of "have" really annoys me. They occur regularly, but maybe it was the two in one post that tipped me to the point of correction. I'll rise above it, doesn't really bother me, but it just proves that none of us are perfect other than Mozzer. Thank you. Personally, I've always thought that I had many flaws (including getting disproportionately annoyed about the use of "of" instead of "have"), so it's nice to know that someone holds me in such high esteem.

I just hate "of" in place of "have." I don't agree about the contracts, either. In my personal opinion, the club perhaps should have waited until the end of the season to sort this out.
