This weekend sees us make our first ever visit to Notts County's Meadow Lane ground looking to capitalise on our victory over Morecambe last weekend while our hosts will be mightily relieved themselves to have won 3-0 in midweek at Bradford City which was their first win in seven attempts. Currently lying six points off the play off places the Magpies have experienced a downward trend in fortunes after a blistering start to the season having recorded just two wins from their last thirteen games coupled with three draws and eight defeats. You have to go back to the 29th December to see the last time they won at home (a 5-0 thumping of Morecambe) which has since been followed with one win and four defeats. Given all that Notts County have still looked the most impressive side to have visited Moor Lane this season when they left with a 2-0 win in mid September. It's interesting to note that between us and our hosts we both boast the worst defensive records in the division having conceded 72 goals each although Notts are actually the second highest scorers with 75 goals - 17 ahead of ourselves on 58. So a nil nil draw on Saturday anybody?

If you read the above preview dannyboy there'll be no need to ask any potential guest on your post match podcast "what was your form like going into the game against ourselves"!

I reckon we have a good chance of winning this one on the back of Sunday's win which stopped a poor run of results. Not unlike our opponents I guess, but they haven't looked the same team since their manager left for Swansea. There haven't been too many teams who really impressed me at ML this season but MK Dons and Mansfield along with Notts immediately spring to mind. We shouldn't fear anyone and given their longish run of ropey form I'm going to go crazy and say we'll win 3-2

I wonder if Notts County will 'rest' Macaulay Longstaff (25 goals)? Wishful thinking on my part!

key is to shut down Jodi Jones on Saturday. 22 assist already this season he is ahead of everyone in the top 4 leagues for assists. Jones sits quite narrow for a winger has more chalk from the edge of the centre circle than the touch line on his boots when getting forward. His link up with Jatta and Longstaff is unreal, absolute Sat Nav to the forwards. I could see Watson being deployed to man mark Jones to nullify the supply if KR goes with the same midfield three as the weekend.
Notts leave a good amount of space either side or the 3 CBs leaving them susceptible to width and balls through the inside channel. The system used against Morcambe on Sunday may be the way to go here, if I was in KRs position Garbutt on the left in place of McLennan for his cross field balls would be handy for Chesters to run on to. Smith or Luamba for Morton with Hendry continuing to play as a deep lying number ten. If the murmurs N’Mai maybe back I think having his speed in reserve would be a huge bonus, along with McAleny from the bench. Declan John slightly narrower in the 3 with Vassell and Tilt again will help with Jodi Jones and Lewis Macari when he moves into attack. If KR goes with the 3-5-2 from Sunday and deploys Smith he will have to stay higher up the pitch and allow Hendry to receive more of the balls into feet with his back to goal than solely looking for the routine flick ons. Personally I would play Luamba and Hendry as the front two to wear down the Notts defence before utilising Smith in the later part of the game.
I have a feeling this will be really competitive on Saturday and my head says a draw, but my heart says Salford win so 2-1 Ammies. UTA!

It's a hard one to call. Morecambe were one of the poorest teams we've seen at home, or was it partly that we stopped them playing? Bradford seem to be in freefall and did that contribute to the County win? County had 5 consecutive losses before a draw with Accrington and the win at Bradford. But County are a point behind us in the form table.......and potentially the two top scorers in the league could be playing.
I think it's one of the hardest games to call and might be down to who wants it most.

I see KR has a 1 match touchline ban tomorrow due to 3 yellow cards. Those and a red too is some going in 13 matches! I get he is passionate but I think he needs to learn to count to 10. Sunday's was for haranguing and swearing at the lino over a free kick being taken a few yards from where the foul was. He's also had one for sarcastic applause at a ref's decision. Neither were exactly major grievances. I love him to bits but he needs to pick his battles.
John is expected back tomorrow but none of the other absentees is despite Nmai being declared fit last night.

Just got a feeling this is a win. Very least a draw. Didn't see the Morecombe result coming so here's hoping!

Cracking win that. I feared the worst when they equalised but credit to the team for coming back to win. FGR lost too which is good. Beat Sutton next week and they can't catch us and with FGR starting a run of 5 tough games against the top 5 I think that would just about make us safe.

I found it funny when one of their commentators said, “when you look at Smith today, you wonder how he’s managed to get 24 goals”. Completely forgetting that a certain Macauley Langstaffe’s name was only mentioned about twice in 98 minutes.
I laughed even harder when Smudge set up the winner!
It’s great that we managed to come back for the win.

I put 2-0 for Sutton so if the current trend continues should be a 3-0 win on Friday. UTA!

Had a feeling this would be win. Thought McAleny had one of his best games I've seen. That 3 at the back seemed to be an improvement too- no clean sheet but an improvement.
When Moreton came on I muttered to myself not sure what this lad really offers but actually his work rate and energy were absolutely huge at the perfect time in the match when Notts were chasing a winner Moreton went after everything.
Should be a comfortable win on Friday now!
