It should have happened ages ago, he was clearly out of his depth. Nothing will change in the short term as the assistant manager is running the show until we appoint someone else.

I think Giggs/Scholes would be the favourites to take over. I don't like the idea but the owners continue to feel the issue is them not being involved enough. More important than even the next manager is recruitment. Unless that improves drastically not even Sir Alex Ferguson could win with this squad

More important than even the next manager is recruitment. Unless that improves drastically not even Sir Alex Ferguson could win with this squad If one of our owners takes over, then they need to be independent, but it’s hard to see that happening, It was pointed out that the club website says we’re looking for a new ‘manager’. That could be just a slip of the pen, but hopefully it signals a return to the normality of the manager choosing his squad. We are playing teams that aren’t so special for the most part…..they just have pace. We need to match that pace and walk away from all potential signings who are ‘good players when they are fit’.

I really wish we would have sacked him a few weeks earlier and tried to get the then Gateshead manager Mike Williamson to Salford. I think he’s probably the best coach I’ve seen in the lower leagues for years. MK Dons will do really well with him I expect

I don't know if anyone else watched the latest documentary on Sky last night but a good portion of it was devoted to Matt Smith. The owners all felt Smith is a talent for this league when used properly and seemed to show some frustration that Wood was unwilling to consider using him. I imagine Wood not choosing the players they wanted him to choose or playing the style they wanted him to play was an ongoing issue. Other notes from the series...
Several times the owners mentioned that we had the 3rd highest payroll last season. If that is true it's even more of a statement for how poor our recruitment has been. 3rd highest payroll should have been more than making the playoffs on GD on the final day.
The owners mentioned if someone was an established quality manager they wouldn't be in league two, if they were a striker that could finish and have pace they wouldn't be in league two, if someone ___________ or __________ they wouldn't be in league two... No one is expecting Klopp or Haaland in league two but that does not mean there is no talent at this level. Certainly there is talent within our wage structure if used wisely. I can't imagine that Barrow or Wimbledon have the budget we do and both have a solid chance of promotion this year.

How many of the leading clubs in the division bang long balls and crosses to a lumbering 6 foot 4 target man? It's archaic football. The teams who have looked impressive against us have pace and movement, we are severely lacking in that bar Bolton and Nmai. Until that changes we won't progress. You wonder what the hell the owners see when other teams take us to the cleaners as we all can

Mark Hughes is the favourite. Dear god, I hope this is just lazy journo talk because he’s just left one job and they assume he needs another job. The bloke has pretty much failed everywhere, including Bradford, who are now working their way up the table and are 3rd in the form table.
We need players who tend to stay fit. We need pace and guile…right now, we have none. We need players who aren’t scared to run with the ball, not the current crop who seem eager to just get rid. In fact, if you look at this critically, we need a squad overhaul akin to the changes as we moved through non-league.

Yorke, Keane, Ince….. I just hope employment at Old Trafford or Carrington is a prerequisite to be a candidate. I don’t know why but I can see John Terry getting it.

Getting away from the Man U connection I hear Joey Barton has been mentioned. Might not go down well with the Lionesses. He does know this level of football though and will take no bull from above.
