Boxing Day sees us in action at Moor Lane in the first of two consecutive home games with Tranmere Rovers providing the first opposition during Christmas week. Although just one point ahead of ourselves it's impressive to note that under new manager Nigel Adkins, who was appointed in the first week of November, the Whites have won 4, drawn 2 and lost just 1 in the league meaning they've taken 14 points from a possible 21 compared to just 10 points from their opening 13 games! By comparison we've won just 2 out of our last 14 games in all competitions (Manchester United U21's and Doncaster Rovers) with no wins from our last 7 league fixtures and have secured just 2 home league victories all season. Add to this that we've only managed to beat the Wirral based side once in seven league meetings and one can understand the ever increasing frustration among Salford supporters. I just ask that we go out there and make a fist of it and don't sit back messing around with the ball indulging in pointless possession just for the sake of it.

Well looking at our respective recent records there's only one result likely on Tuesday. Surely that would be the final nail in Wood's coffin. Looking at Tranmere and Bradford it's clear what a new manager can achieve with the same set of players as they have both improved greatly since doing so. If we put in the same half arsed performance as Friday and don't actually compete it will be another sorry defeat. No doubt Arrigo Sacchi will put 11 behind the ball and play for a draw again so a nil nil is about the best we can hope for I reckon.

Why do I waste my time with this team? There was no point during that game I thought we'd secure a point. Wishing I had the red card instead of McAleny so I'd miss the game on Friday

I said I wasn’t going, but I did.
Utter dogsh*t. I will not go to another game whilst Wood is in charge. Yes I know little will change until our clueless owners realise they are the problem, but this is the only method of protest I have. I actually spent much of the game in the bar.
If the owners do read this forum…..for god’s sake, wake up and DO something!

Oh dear, Oh dear, 1-5 loss at home. Just watched it on the stream ABYSMAL!! We look bereft of confidence, ideas, passion, you name it we don't seem to have any of it!. Does anyone else think it's not just the performances on the pitch that seem to have gone downhill( Tangerines excellent summing up of our recent results stats shows an alarming downturn), 2 wins out of the last 14 games is excellent if you are hell bent on gaining relegation!! Communication at the club is appalling, we have apparently injuries galore which has rendered us having to regularly play academy players, and also fill the bench on numerous occasions with them. Manager has quoted "we only had 10 players at training recently" However are there any comments coming from the club's hierarchy about whats happening?, whats wrong with the injured players? when might they be back?. As a season ticket holder (North Stand), I regularly attend most games Home and Away, as I live in the West Midlands a home game for me is 174 miles round trip. However just 24 hours after attending the Wrexham game away (Should have won after being 2 -0 up at one stage), I had the misfortune to suffer a serious heart attack which necessitated having to have emergency open heart surgery and to have 3 blocked arteries by passed. Subsequently I know that at least 2 people informed the club of my emergency 6 hour heart surgery. It would have been nice to have received a get well card from the club or even a best wishes mention in the programme. Of course we are a big club with a huge fanbase NOT. I was however cheered up reading that just after my situation had occurred a Chelsea fan who suffered a heart attack at a game was visited the next day by Reece James who learnt of the supporters unfortunate event. Every time I read our match day programme, I learn about the excellent work the club does in the community with local people and this is to be applauded. However it would be nice to know that the club at least gives a toss about its own supporters should such unfortunate events occur.
Slightly disgusted!!

Seems Neil Wood has not done a press conference after the game and it's been done by Alex Cairns who has said that the result is down to the team and that they have a decent relationship with the manager. All the Class of 92 were their today including Gary Neville who I cannot believe is prepared to accept anymore of these gutless performances. I'm going to calm down before I post anymore tonight.

I'm swerving Friday and Stanley too despite forking out £20 for a ticket. I need a break from watching that soul destroying garbage. Our injuries are a joke but I wonder how many of those are genuine and how many are niggles that are a convenient way to avoid playing under Wood? The current situation just can't continue. Being totally cynical is this all part of a managed decline and an exit strategy for C92 and Lim? How a club can go from the play offs to serious relegation candidates with basically the same squad in a few months baffles me.

I have never yet asked for a manager to be sacked during my time supporting Salford City but time has finally run out for Neil Wood as we cannot continue as he have been doing for what seems like months with these inept performances. Yes the players have to take some responsibility for a performance like today but ultimately it is the manager who is responsible for the way they are asked to play and the system they are asked to stick to. People say NW has no plan B but I'd go as far to say that he has no plan A either as I haven't a clue what it is we're trying to do on the pitch other than pissing around with pointless possession in and around our 18 yard box, then trying to find a player who is either closely marked or facing the wrong way or spraying the ball out wide to the wings from where we invariably either lose the ball or fail to put a decent cross in. Today Tranmere tore us to shreds with fast, cohesive, incisive and purposeful football and probably should have scored at least 8 or 9. I'm only grateful that Kristian Dennis wasn't playing for them today as he would have had an absolute field day. Defensively we've stagnated, we have nothing constructive in midfield, we are slow going forward and allow opposition defences to regroup as we knock the ball from side to side, we have no quick passing movement and as I've said before we wait for the ball instead of looking to create. I'm also intrigued as to what it is we actually do at training, and what the pre match and half time team talks actually consist of. Very little by all accounts looking at the end products. Also I have to question our recruitment and medical expertise looking at the amount of players who are either 'long term' injured or who when they do come back more often than not get 'injured' again. It seems we also appear to pick up a lot of injuries in training. Where and on what are we actually training on? Some sort of concrete assault course? There's no doubt that having a large number of injured first team absentees hasn't done us any favours but the players who are turning out appear to lack leadership, confidence and the will to do anything other than the very basics. We need to have a good recruitment policy in the summer after having hopefully escaped relegation by bringing in a number of quality individuals (who will need to be proved medically fit) as well as perhaps cashing in on one or two supposed better players as early as the January transfer window before their contracts expire. At the very least we need a manager with serious experience, a commanding figure who is given full reign to manage and who is honest enough with the supporters rather than us being spoon fed absolute drivel post match every week. We do have some talented individuals but we need someone to reignite their spark and that can only happen with a change of leadership.

I boo’d them off today. Never done that before ever, but since we sit near the owners, it was as much for their benefit as it was to show my anger. But most had gone by then I think.

Today feels a low as it gets. I like Neil. I really wanted it to work for him but it just hasn’t. I’m not sure what the issue is and I guess it’s not a simple as pinning it all on Neil. Player recruitment has been a worry for some time. Maybe the issues around the ground, training facilities is still problematic?
I honestly wished they’d given Jonno and Bernard more time back in the day. Also Wellens too. It felt there was more to run with Jonno and Bernard. This time does feel like the right time. Where do we go from here though? I’d like to see some vertical changes right through the structure.
