Ossama Ashley joins us from Colchester. He describes himself as a hard working midfielder who loves a tackle and doesn't stop running. Sounds like he'll add some much needed energy in midfield. Welcome! Colchester fans surprised to see him go. Looks like a decent addition. Welcome to Moor Lane!

Welcome! Plus, it's said about him, euphemistically: "... earned a reputation as a no-nonsense player [ hardman midfield-stopper! ] ..."
So, no Callum Morton then.

Jason Lowe signs for Port Vale after being released by us. Good move for him that especially moving up a division Given that we're supposed to be a tin-pot club it's somewhat ironic that 'big' and 'proper' clubs like Stockport County, Port Vale and Oldham Athletic have taken so many of our players on their exits from Moor Lane!

The 23/24 squad is looking alright so far. And with so little chopping an' changing this time around, our players should be able to operate 'as one' from the very first league game. And I won't have to keep asking "Who's He? What's that player's name? What's our new number 6 called? Who's....

Think I'm correct in saying only Touray of those offered new terms has declined and left. We've said for a while that keep changing half of the squad every season is counter productive so I'm really pleased we haven't done it this season. As long as we can hang onto the likes of Watt and Bolton and add a couple of centre backs, together with the new signings so far I think we have the makings of a very strong push at promotion.
I know everyone keeps saying it's a strong league but the 4 who got relegated did so because they weren't very good. I get that Wrexham and Notts County had good seasons last season but that counts for nothing now. We came very close last season so there's no reason we can't be up there again. UTA!

Even the bookies think Wrexham and Notts county are going to stroll through this league. I'm not sure they'll find it as easy as some think. I think Touray got all excited at being in the league team of the year and perhaps he should have taken what's been offered. But Stockport's loss is our gain!

Barnsley have allegedly had an offer of £400,000 turned down for Luke Bolton. Given their interest of nearly 18 months and Bolton's rise in stature it's perhaps not surprising that they are now renewing their interest. Personally think Bolton would be a big miss down the wing but I just wish his finishing could be improved on. Will be interesting to see if this story runs any further.

Bolton didn't play on Saturday so I wonder if we are in negotiations to sell him. At least if he does go it's mid July and we can look to bring in a replacement, unlike last season when BTA went right at the end of the window and we were snookered.

Unless he’s telling the club he really wants to go, the selling him would show a complete lack of ambition by the club. They’ve done everything right so far this close season in terms of players kept and seem to have given most of them 2 year contracts…a sign of intent. Willingly selling Bolton, even to use the money for another signing…would be a mistake IMO.

If he has, and he wants to activate it, then as long as the price is met, he is off ...

Joe Wright a young keeper from Millwall comes in on loan until January. He's realistic at least, hoping he can play a few cup games and work with Cairns rather than going into the 1st team.
