Are there any restrictions to Salford fans at all getting into the old Nevile Road stand?

All those complaining about the arrangements for segregation at tomorrows game should know that just 3 short years ago on March 15th 2014 we were LOSING 3-0 at home to bottom of the league Ossett Albion in front of 128 spectators who had no idea what was on the horizon. A few newbies complaining about having to "give up" our home end for 1 game is a very small price to pay for what we will have by August, just remember where we are going to be and just how far we've come in such a small time.

If you think losing at home to Ossett Albion was bad you should have been at Wakefield - the next to bottom side - on the following Tuesday night when we lost 2-0 at Wakefield Trinity's Belle Vue Rugby League ground in front of 48 spectators!
It's a difficult position for the club to be in who clearly realise it's not the ideal situation to give Stockport County fans our end but who have in all probabaility been forced into making this decision. That said it's not surprising home fans have reacted the way they have. I'm sure if the boot had been on the other foot there would have been a similar reaction.

Local, I do see your point when you put it in those terms. However, it is more than just a few "newbies" moaning in this case. There's quite a lot of disquiet across a few social media platforms, and you can count me - an eleven year veteran - in among a few "oldies" who are at the very least disappointed with how it has worked out. That said, I might put it in slightly different terms to some. I appreciate that Andy G has come on here to explain the situation, and I suppose there's nothing more that we can do about it now. That said, I think that whatever the circumstances surrounding what has happened - whether we put it down as regrettable, unavoidable, etc. - it is still a bit of an embarrassment for the fans to be put out of the new facilities, and Stockport are just about this worst club (along with Darlington) that something like this could happen against. There's no changing the facts that they charged £15.00 full adult to put away fans in the crappest end of their ground (and their fans make no bones about saying that they couldn't care less about away supporters, for they are a "massive" club and think the prices are fine because they want to get back to league football, etc., etc.) while they are getting the best stand at ours for the cheapest price in the league. From a fans' perspective, we are going to look like a bit of a laughing stock, regardless of whether the arrangements could be helped or not. As I said, there's nothing more we can do now. I just hope we stuff them. By the way, I was at that Ossett game. It was biting bloody freezing and the ref added something like six minutes injury time. I just wanted to go home at that point and throw my feet into the fire.

Furthermore, for them to say that they will boycott programmes and food because they didn't get enough tickets or can't stream the game illegally or whatever is frankly pathetic. They've had generous allocation and accommodation (though the number of tickets given to them doesn't bother me).

Wakefield 0-2? How about losing 1-8 at Wakefield on Tuesday 10th March, 2009? The total attendance may have been greater than 48; however, there was only you, me, and Percy stood behind the goal supporting the team that night. "We've got more goals against us than fans."

Just checking, think I know the answer, but as someone older who can't stand for 90mins, is there going to be any option to sit under cover today?

You can sit in the main stand, although it might not be too comfy if you have a medical issue. They will also be snapped up if you leave your seat for the loo. But maybe have a word when you get there. There are some seats reserved for club directors etc. Maybe they can get you in there?

I think we need to be careful, claiming that those complaining are 'newbies'. I suspect I still am, even I've been going for around 5-6 seasons now. Whether you've been going for 1 season or 21, you have every right to comment on this and question the decision. Time doesn't make you a better or more qualified commentator. But as said elsewhere, we just need to get on with it now. There's going to be some roar from five hundred county fans crammed into that metal stand.

I didn't make it clear that I too am disappointed with the arrangements but it is what it is, as for big time county I refused to go there as a matter of principal £15 in and the same for Altrincham at £14 at this level taking the p... as far as I'm concerned.
Regarding "newbies" it's funny that if all the fans on all social media had actually been going to Salford for as long as they say they have we'd have had an average crowd of over 1000 three years ago before the Cof92 revolution, I remember city playing at Maine Road one time and around 6000 being there but if you count all those who said "die hard supporter me, I was there" the crowd would've been 60,0000

The whole idea of a "newbie" is a strange one, have these people just started going to games or switched clubs?

The whole newbie oldie fan debate just causes a divide amongst the fans in my opinion you pay ya money to support your team everybody had a 1st game at some point and if your willing to travel home and away you get the right to voice your dissapointment at a situation which as resulted in our home fans being out in the rain whilst the county massive are under cover But they are from Cheshire i suppose 😉.....😂😂😂 Enjoy the game folks

I can't speak for all fans on social media.....just myself. But it doesn't matter when anyone started watching. The club needs new supporters as much (if not more purely in financial terms) than it needs the longer term supporters.
Now before anyone throws their toys out of the pram, I'll explain. I doff my cap for those who have gone for 20 years. The club should take account of that and treasure the long term support. But without the new fans, the club is going nowhere. We wouldn't and couldn't be a league club with 70 supporters.
The term 'newbie' is often used in a condescending manner, just as it was here. The words 'a few newbies complaining' doesn't really help does it? The club needs ALL supporters, old and new.

I remember walking towards to exit from behind the goal at the far end when it was 6-1 and they scored another two in the time it took us to walk the length of the pitch. The drive home was horrendous too! I'm expecting a County win today. Bit pessimistic I know. Regarding the stand and all the kerfuffle surrounding this game, I think it's just unfortunate with the timing of the game and the current state of Moor Lane. Just a one off so although it did p**s me off a bit I'm not going to lose any sleep about it. I'll probably be in the old stand today to keep dry.
