As a result of this some Stockport fans have decided to boycott the club by not purchasing beer, food or programmes They get our new stand out of the rain while we get wet out in the open and they won't even buy a pint or burger! Oh well, less queing I suppose. For £15.00, we get the worst bit of their ground; for £7.00, they get our best bit. What's for them to moan about? It's a cheap day out for them. They can buy programmes and refreshments with the £8.00 that they save from their own overpriced entry fees.

As a result of this some Stockport fans have decided to boycott the club by not purchasing beer, food or programmes No drunken away fans....works for me. So they're getting all upset. We have to expect this, especially from the local clubs. Massive b*lls up,by the club this. Segregation is segregation, no matter which side of the segregation you're on. Whether we were in the stand or they were, the net result would have been the same.

Yeah couldn't agree more mate, the club have well and truly fu**ed this one up! The fans have got to do as much as they can to spur the lads on as Stockport fans will be in their element, they'll be very loud.

Massive b**** up? In what way? Still waiting for a credible alternative we could have adopted for the game, bearing in mind we had to make it all-ticket and put segregation in place.
Any ideas?

Couldnt we of gave them the entire old stand they could of used the same entrance they are currently same porta loos and the wooden shed cafe blocked/fenced off where the tv gantry is and from the pitch wall to the stand so block access to babs cafe and closed off behind the main stand. Only down size would be that our fans would have to walk round which i dont see would be a massive problem compared to standing out in the rain and not having a stand to ourselves for fans to sing as weve gotta share that with away fans aswell who want to sit down.

Massive b**** up? In what way? Still waiting for a credible alternative we could have adopted for the game, bearing in mind we had to make it all-ticket and put segregation in place. Any ideas? They could have stood in front of the new seats and at the school end. Stewards could have set the segregation at the players tunnel. That way, we get all the clubhouse, the main stand and the new stand. We could have used the new Neville re turnstile for both the new and main stand, and they could have used the old NevIlle rd turnstile for the school and seating stand area. Room for portaloos and maybe a refreshment van? Surely the actual segregation isn't the issue here. Whether we stand on one side of the fence or the other, you have the same level of segregation. Now, not only do we stand in the wind and rain, but they get a new metal stand that will reverberate once they start singing. So they'll also sound louder than us. What none of us understand why the segregation wasn't set the other way around?

Again....nobody is suggesting there shouldn't be segregation. Just that it favours them in every way possible. Just switch it around. It doesn't affect the segregation in the slightest.

It's not down for the fans to come up with suggestions.... The fact that county fa s are in our new stand and going to be loader at our Home game is a massive balls up.

Yeah exactly, after 5 minutes we will be drown out by stockport county fans in our own new stand, stood there pi*s wet through in probably our biggest home game of the season when the lads need their fans most. Like I said before Stockport fans are in their element.

The main stand idea was considered but security wise, it's a non-starter. We have a responsibility to provide 'directors' and media seats and they are currently situated in the main stand. Some home supporters need seats.
Same goes for in front of the new seated stand - no designated entrance for away fans is available and it is not considered to be secure.
The main entrance is the vehicular entrance to the ground, so can't give that to the away supporters.
The school end is a pile of construction material at the moment and will be fenced off, apart from pathway access - it cannot be used to accommodate supporters and will be closed tomorrow.
It's not up to supporters to come up with suggestions - however, those who criticise the club on this forum should expect to be asked what they would might have done differently. There have been some suggestions since I posted but they've all been considered already and set aside - for very sound reasons.
When the ground is completed the home end will be just that - although to be fair it has already been shared by supporters of AFC Telford United and Stalybridge Celtic during its brief life. With the ground undergoing vital construction work and with tight deadlines we have - reluctantly - arrived at the best solution for segregation. The West End of the ground has been used for segregation in the past because it is the most easily secured. At the moment that remains the case.
On Tuesday the ground will not be segregated but Chorley fans will be able to stand in the 'home' end should they so wish.
We have considered the comfort and convenience of our supporters too - let us know what you think of those measures after the game.
Andy

Agree to disagree it seems but thanks for explaining. Suppose only tomorrows game will tell. One to leave with you though is why have they been given 550 tickets?
If they had been given 300 which makes miles more sense then this would have been far easier to organise. An away support should never be 50% of the home support anyway.

It's going to be a great game! Can't wait.
The old stand will be a squeeze as rain is looking likely, not many will want to stand around the sides.
Stockport will have a full stand to themselves and be able to create a better atmosphere than the home fans will be able to. It's the only viable solution but doesn't mean we are going to be annoyed about it. It's not exactly a great outcome for the home fans but, lets keep positive and get the 3 points.

Fair enough - can't ask for more.
Once the decision was made to give them the West Stand we decided that they might as well have the full 500 places we can currently offer. The 50 extra were for Stockport fans who needed a seat for the game - presumably seat season ticket holders at Edgeley Park. 300 would still have been in the same end of the ground.
When the ground is complete the away allocation for all ticket matches will be about 30% of the ground's capacity. At the moment though, the ground is a very busy building site so we have to practical and safe.
