We've had a great season really. Newly promoted and in with a shout of the play offs. I don't think anyone is doubting that? There's no harm in being critical on the forum. That's what fans do. We talk as though we could do a better job and as though we have all the answers. Any criticism should be seen in that light. It isn't doom and gloom at all, but part of the fun of football is that we come on here after the game and debate what happened. I think we have a core of great players, but some will go in the Summer. I think we have two up and coming managers, who are taking us in the right direction. Any criticism of the team, managerial decisions and individual players should be seen in the context of the above. I don't use the word criticism, it should be opinion.I cannot understand the players for next season,we need reinforcements now.Tunji went of,Scott could be a miss.by the way I know you did in not say players for next season, but I am sure you get my point.

Time for patience me thinks. Remember Jonnno and Bernard have created a team who have given us success which we could have only dreamt about. So many great moments and times have made the thirteen months of their tenure almost unbelievable. A poor run was always going to come at sometime so I suggest we all get behind them and give them the support they deserve. Having known them both as players and managers I will certainly be doing that.

Very true, and I don't think anyone is suggesting that people not get behind them. The true fans continue to support them home and away regardless of form. For example, we filled the coach yesterday for the first time in three attempts under ABC's new scheme, even though we haven't been playing all that well and are on a relatively poor run of form. However, I don't think it's unreasonable for the people who do watch them regularly to form an opinion based on the game in question within recent context and express it in a designated place (i.e. here).

I cannot understand the players for next season,we need reinforcements now.Tunji went of,Scott could be miss.by the way Definitely. Lewis has been a big miss since his departure. We never replaced him and actually changed our formation after he left. With several injuries and suspensions, we've been light in the midfield. Tunji does a great job of covering, but he's also been injured recently, plus Gaz has missed two with a suspension and we've had Scott out with injury and illness, too. I would've liked us to get someone in who played in the same role as Lewis and kept the same shape of the team if possible, or at least brought in another out and out winger to play on the left, having signed John Johnston.

Lewis was brought inn as cover for tungi and i dont think anybody was expecting lewis to be as good as was keeping tungi out of the side in the end we were never gonna keep hold of lewis the minute Blackburn was gonna offer him a pro contract. It would be difficult to find a like for like replacement for any of the 3 lads Lewis Gaz and Scott and that is in no way a slight at the other midfielders in the squad just those 3 are on another level its cost us not having them in the team together.

People are entitled to their opinion fine but I was stood next to Gaz and Jordan and I did not see any inappropriate behaviour in fact they were shouting on the team. I think it is great they stood with the fans I did think it would of been strange if that had happened. Well done lads for being on their best behaviour haha

By the way, people should watch Bernard's post-match interview in the 'Match Highlights' section. A co-manager himself confirms that the usual team spirit seems to have gone over the past month, that we are in a slump, that the performance against Ilkeston - in his words - lacked "dignity," that that there has been a collective complacency creeping in, and that it shouldn't just come down to missing a couple of players.

Any chance of changing this thread to Boys2Men1 ? I have to say that I'm in agreement with Mozzer with respect to virtually everything he has said. I was absolutely devastated the week before when we turned a winning position into a defeat against Darlington to the extent that I couldn't face going out that same night to a gig that I'd been looking forward to going to. Such were my feelings about the result! I was of course disappointed about the Ilkeston result and performance but this time it felt completely different. I have to admit thinking before the game that it was going to be a stroll in the park. It wasn't of course but I just wonder if our players and management thought it would be as well? Also factor in any lingering side effects from the Darlington result and it makes one wonder if our mindset was right on the day. Aside from that there's no doubting Ilkeston fully deserved their win by doing the simple things right. They moved the ball around crisply and with accuracy whereas we tried too many ambitious passes and were quickly closed down by any number of their players. JJ looked isolated and with little or no support when he got the ball on the right flank while the left flank appeared to be over populated to the extent that we just got bogged down with too many intricate little moves ending up down blind alleys. The fact we didn't test a 17 year old keeper until Danny Webber scored on 71 minutes really tells the story of the afternoon. I did care that we lost but unlike the week before I was resigned to us getting beaten when 2-0 down and never having a direct shot on target after an hours play. We basically got what we deserved at the end of the day having been beaten by a bunch of kids who played collectively like a team with a point to prove. The game in many respects - apart from the sending offs - reminded me of the one at Brighouse Town last season. Hopefully like then we can regroup and put a decent run together. There is a big difference between banter and perhaps inappropriate comments aimed at opposition players. I'm not pointing any fingers but even some of our own support were not blameless in this matter. Whereas the Stourbridge keeper in a recent game at Moor Lane was fully deserving of everything aimed at him - including by yours truly - the young kid at Ilkeston definitely wasn't. Let's just draw a line under this and move on eh! The return of Jordan and Gaz - who will both be itching to get back - will certainly help matters in the meantime but the absence of Scotty B is yet another blow. Either way I'll be there at Marine giving my team 100% backing and obviously hoping we turn things around ahead of the Ilkeston return fixture which is then followed by three 'easy' consecutive games against Darlo (A), Ashton (H) and Workington (H)!

We need the players to remember what they felt as they walked out in those FA Cup games, and apply the same mentality. We are a shadow of that team. Ok, we have injuries and suspensions, but we should still have a squad strong enough to give Ilkeston and other teams a decent game?
I've noticed a hardening of the chants aimed at the opposition keepers, from my position behind the goals when at home. Wasn't at Ilkeston, but generally, It's mainly good natured, but I do hear some plain old nastiness creeping in. Not nice to hear and takes all the fun away. But as you say....let's move on.
The players need to put the last few weeks behind them and start again. Remembering what put us in with a shout of promotion in the first place.

I slipped up saturday only the once mind and i appologised i was born out of frustration rather than a verbal assault it was my proudest moment but i held my hands up and said sorry straight away and on the coach no excuse i know but ive been in stand at home now so not my bag at home except v stourbridge when keeper deserved everything he got CHEAT!!!

I think that's the worst i've seen us play saturday, from the get go we never looked like getting out of first gear
Yes the suspensions and injuries haven't helped but they players that have come in are more than good enough and should be fighting for their place when given the chance, maybe the cup run is starting to have some strain on the lads now to?
We do need to get the buzz back, and i do believe we will get it, i know we said it weekend re Ilkeston but our next 2 v Marine & Ilkeston are very winnable, if we can take 6 points going in to the Darlo game and we come away from the with the points i do believe that buzz will be back.
No need to panic yet, this is a very tough league and we was always going hit a bad patch as do all teams.
Keep the faith.
On another note, it was a great trip to a cracking little ground.
