We aren't good enough to get promoted and I said this a while back. I don't want us to scrape promotion and then struggle in the league above. We have the players, for the most part and we have the managers to take us forward. But we have never really got to grips with how to play in this league. The cup run didn't help, but we were poor at home before that.
Our disciplinary record has been shocking. I don't know if that's because we are a dirty team ;-) or that we just haven't realised that even at this level, you don't get away with what you can in the league we left.
I think the players brought in have been mainly a success, but some just haven't worked, despite coming in with big reputations. The one mistake the managers did make, was getting rid of Madeley. A class player, doing well in the league above this. I won't name names, because it does seem to upset people on here if you are honest, but one or two that have come in are NOT as good as Madeley.
But hey, our managers are also learning, and I still think they are taking us in the right direction. If we don't get promoted, and I don't think we deserve it or will benefit from it, I hope the owners don't get trigger happy and look to replace the management team? I don't think they will, but I would recommend caution, as they do want to entertain and they have brought the team on.
We need another season in this league. We have been suckered into disciplinary problems and even taking out the dodgy red and yellow cards, we have let ourselves down with petulance, and that goes right back to Madeley and then many others since.

I think 3 more quality signings next season. I'd like blyth going forward to win league but competing against money bags darlo next season is a tough ask if they don't go up

In response to the original poster:
Blyth are in the best position for the title, having the points securely on the board. Darlington know all too well from last season that points on the board is worth more that games in hand. That said, Darlo look an impressive side, and if they can ride out a tough fixture list, they might be able to challenge Blyth for top spot. Workington should be there or thereabouts in the top three.
That leaves two remaining play off places. No disrespect to Barwell, but I cannot see them finishing in the top five. Stourbridge, Ashton, Salford, and Nantwich will, in my opinion, contest for those remaining spots. Stourbridge look like a strong side, and I wouldn't back against them finishing fourth. Nantwich are also good, but I wonder if the fact that they have neither games in hand or quite as many points on the board at this stage, combined with their run in the Trophy, will cost them at the end of the season. Therefore, I think Salford or Ashton will take the final spot. It may well go down to the results between the two sides in March and April. If Salford do not book their ideas up soon, though, it will be Ashton's to throw away.
My prediction summarised:
1 & 2 Blyth / Darlo 3. Workington 4. Stourbridge 5. Salford or Ashton

I can't believe what I am reading,we all wanted promotion at the start of the season. We have had a dip in Form,it's now doom and gloom. For crying out loud, get behind the lads,I am sure they still want promotion,so should we,to be on about players for next season is ridiculous,we have still got at least twelve game to play this season,as I have already said in a earlier post, we got beat by a team who's average age was probably about twenty three.I don't want to take anything away from them, but I think their was bit of complacency, and they made us pay.Get down to Marine on Tuesday, and give the team a bit of encouragement. We could still win promotion.

If that's in response to my post, I don't see what the problem is. I've given an honest assessment of how I think the play off picture will shape up, as per the point of the thread.

Bit more of a "dip" in form RTS. Everyone is behind the team of course we want them to win games as much as anyone else. I can sort of swallow the Darlo result... good side, but we are playing teams we should be beating if promotion is our goal and for whatever reason its not happening. Of course ill be at the next home game banging the hoardings and singing a song to cheer the lads on.
