The managers highlighted a problem and brought the right lads inn and once we get the defence working again we will be fine for the play offs but its not over yet still plenty of football to be played darlo now have 2 games a week till the end and anymore cancelled they will have a tuesday thursday saturday week if games and there is still this 12 pts issue which many of the top teams have put in a complaint/explanation into the sanctions issued or lack.

I agree with most of what the original poster says. I know Lewis (not Lee) was a fantastic player and extremely difficult to replace, but I feel we should've looked at getting someone in who plays in the same position instead of changing formation. At the moment we have four players for two positions (not bad on paper), but we've had injuries and suspensions to midfielders all season. Plus, when we play Stopforth and Burton together they are usually immense; Tunji does a good job stepping in, too. After that we're struggling. Clark is a different type of player and hasn't really shone when he's played recently - and clearly he isn't in the forefront of the managers' plans.
I've had this formation debate internally and verbally before it's been posted on here because early results after the formation change were positive: 2-1 at Hyde and the 7-0 and 4-0 wins at home within the first four games (the other game being the 1-1 at Nantwich). There's no doubt about it, we are scoring more at home (22 in 7 compared with 10 in 9 - league only), and we statistically aren't conceding more at home, either (7 in 7 against 11 in 9). It's hard to judge the away form yet because we've only played three (a win, a draw, a defeat) and they've been against top sides. So statistically we're doing fine, right? But something isn't right - or doesn't appear to be, otherwise there wouldn't be so many posts concerned about the way we have been playing. Therefore, I guess it must be down to some intangible factors. For example, statistically Josh Hine is excellent (4 goals in 5), yet he's missed a lot of chances, especially one-on-ones, and at crucial moments in games (Blyth and Darlo, for example). Not intending to just single a player out, it's more than just one person missing chances and more than just the case of missing chances. Are we imbalanced? John Johnston is very much a right winger, but who plays on the left. Hulme, Webber, Poole, Joe, Allen, and even Seddon have popped up on the left recently. We also have an abundance of 'strikers' vying for two positions. One or two have questioned Seddon, but to be fair to him he's worked hard at getting sharp again, then he finally gets his goal. What happens? A bit of bad luck with two postponements and then he's on the bench. Is it something to do with desire or attitude. I find that difficult to suggest, but take the cup run away or at least look at the games post-Skelmersdale. Blyth and Darlo wanted it more, there's no question about it. Have we had too much disruption to the team? Two guys coming in for fees in positions where we have a lot of players, for example, while, on the other hand, we've lost Lewis and had injuries to Poole, Webber, Allen, and Burton in that time (not to mention more suspensions through bad discipline). Are we jaded? Possibly. It's been a tough season and try as they might, it must have been difficult to deal with that cup run plus league plus work commitments. Whatever it is, it's down to Jonno, Bernard, the players, and coaching staff to now concentrate on getting our head downs and getting it done on the pitch. My views on what represents a good season have already been posted numerous times and they're a lot more lax than club officials suggest that the goals are! However, Jonno in his last post-match interview now suggests that top five is a minimum. We're currently fourth. There's some tough games to come, but there's no reason why this squad shouldn't be able to get over the line and have a crack at the play-offs.

I believe Seddon had a bout of 'manflu' and hadn't trained hence the reason he wasn't selected. Not bad when the 2 forwards who played both scored though!
Great post above and breaks down what I've been saying.
It's pretty clear most people's issues on here are with Hines misses. The lad probably has a ration of scoring 1 in 3 chances, maybe Will the stat man could give us some better info? But as I've said in a previous post and this is just my opinion obviously but the lad Hine gives us so much more going forward and I believe that if he wasn't in the team the goals AND missed chances he's had wouldn't have even come about. Because of the way he plays, on the shoulder he stretches teams who absolutely hate facing there own goal and he causes them problems after problems (look at his assist for Webber on Sat too). The biggest issue I can see is keeping Burton and Stopforth fit and ban free, Tunji has been excellent too and as Broughton rightly points out, they played as a 3 throughout pre-season and in the first 4 games of the season when we went unbeaten. Perhaps that is one thing that we may see again?!?

Unfortunately, I don't have any Opta-Index stats available for each individual player per game! Believe me, I'd covet something like that. Hine against Blyth was probably 1 in 3, but in every other game it's been at least 1 in 5. I think when I refer to intangibles, though, I mean that his chances need to count at crucial moments. One on with the goalie on Saturday at 3-1 for instance. Or take Blyth: two chances at 0-1 when through on goal, both squandered; yet takes his opportunity late on at 0-2. I do agree that he offers a threat aside from getting a lot of chances - and I think Broughton has also said this before - and we are possibly creating more with him in the team. However, if we go back to statistics, then we have to look at the numbers that count: the final score. A few of these stats have been a bit disappointing recently.

Hine isnt the reason we lost he scored one and made one we leaked 4 soft goals, that's the problem Hine's got 4 goals in 5, i'm happy with the job he's doing

Can't be too critical of Hine, couldn't have asked for a better start than 4 in 5. Sure he's missed a few chances but if he was as clinical as scoring with every chance he got, he wouldn't be at a semi professional club. It's not a coincidence that this bad run of form has come when we've been missing Poole, Burton, Stopforth, Hulme and Webber over that period. In my eyes, that's 5 first team players and 3 or 4 of our best players. Once we're at full fitness again, we'll be back up there. Keep the faith Ammies

Stats only tell some of the story.I remember the game V Rushall early on this season, when Luke Bembow their lone striker that day,had two chances and buried them.Rushall went home with three points after a 3 1 win. That afternoon we were much the better team, but we mist a hat full of chances.Yes Bembow must be decent,19 goals so far this season, but it just shows how important it is to have a good finisher.I am not having ago it is just a point. If you don't concede and score one,you win.If you concede four you can still score five and win,so what is most important scoring or not conceding, just a thought. And one more thing I was talking to a friend, who went on Saturday is second time at Moor Lane.He goes to United,he enjoyed the game,he said they had a twelfth man.Their fans.I said to him,are you saying we are a prawn sandwich club.He would not comment.

I wasn't making any points about financial repercussions of being promoted to be fair. A few of our best players have been out injured and that's contributed to this dip in form, but you crack on pal

Hines missing chances but he's also scoring goals, given more time to settle those missed chances will turn into more goals, watching Jonno post match is very encouraging, looking forward to Saturday.

Get over the 12 points deduction... The ruling has been made & sactioned by the FA. It was a minor paperwork infraction that other clubs & the EVOSTIK LEAGUE fell into... it was only spotted when we moved him along to Shildon in the Northern League where he had already played & still does I believe. I am not going to go over it all AGAIN , we signed him from Doncaster for whom he played, not the Welsh club. We have been sanctioned & punished as per the League sanctions ... move on. Blame the FA for allowing an English player playing for a Welsh club playing in the English system while still being registered with the WFA it is ludicrous. The decision will not be changed, despite all the crying & moaning from our league rivals.... Lets be honest...If we had not been in contention nobody would have cared Even if the 12 points were taken there would be a good chance that we would make the play offs anyway, I can't see us winning the league even with games in hand, that is a big ask. So hopefully either way see you in the playoffs After the mauling we have had from the FA in recent years it is a pleasant change that authorities actually got it right for a change.

Nobody denies it was simple paperwork issue but by the same reasoning everybody else has abided by the rules and for those who havent up until this incident have been punished with points deduction and to say you have been punished really mmmmmm. And i was mearly pointing out that there is a growing number of club chairmen that have made contact with the league to gain an explanation as to how they reached their conclusion. But if you keep injury free its yours to loose

Yes, I can see if we win ALL of our remaining 19 games we will win the league...But that is not going to happen is it. If you think it is ours to lose then you are the only person that thinks we will win this league.
