Moving on from the Darlington thriller, we now are at a very important crossroads of the season. Realistically winning the league has gone, play off position is now the priority. Reflecting back on what has changed, since Lee Hardcastle left the shape of the team has changed. The midfield is now 2 defensive players, no one to pick a pass out and the wide men getting isolated. The squad looks unbalanced and indiscipline has not helped the cause. Also the back four are playing long balls in hope rather than play being built up. As previously stated by others strikers missing far to. Many chances, calm heads needed and a positive plan to make those play offs

I'm getting bored talking about Darlo but at the very least our games with them always generate a lot of forum banter!
With Hardcastle's departure matters haven't been helped with Scott Burton's injury/illness and Gary Stopforth's present ban. I still think a creative and experienced midfielder wouldn't go amiss. Defensively we've been sound in the middle of the park but Darlo - as well as others recently - have certainly been given too much time and space on our defensive flanks. Up front we've got more than enough fire power providing off course that we pull the trigger at the right moment. Our wastefulness in recent games has cost us dear but we've just got to move on and take the positives from the Darlo game and ensure we don't make the same mistakes again.

Against the better teams, we revert to the long ball......a mistake.
Defensively, we are tending to back off players, especially when attackers are cutting in from the wings. If they don't tackle them outside the box, then they're not going to tackle them inside it. The result is they stand off until the player crosses it. I don't know why we're doing this?
Regarding individual players.....and I assume we can still do this on the forum.....;-) .......I think Allen and Seddon have returned looking unfit and out of sorts. Hard to call with Seds, because he hasn't had a run in the team, but Richie has. He's shown glimpses, but he's not the player he was before his injury. Both players came back and pulled up again. Are we playing them too soon?
I think the FA Cup run took too much out of us. The gaffers always said the league was the priority, but I think the glitz and glamour of the cameras put the focus on the cup. Half the team look jaded and in need of a rest. We have to remember, these guys have day jobs as well.
One more thing to throw in the mix. Old news I know, but Sam Madeley appears to be doing well in the league above. It's hard to argue with most of the gaffers signings and players they released. But I think this was a mistake in hindsight.

Oh, and will someone tell Webber that he's the worst corner taker in the world.....ever......and forever in the future!

ok ok reset required Its only my personnel choice not to critise the lads on a public forum or the club in general and its everyones choice to comment how they see fit and the forum would be pretty boring if we all had the same opinions. As long we have the same aim and that to see our club compete whilst not loosing the connection with the fans its all good. So stop critising the lads Apples are in the post. Anyhow back to topic weve not had what many would consider our best midfielders on pitch together for a while now its no coincidence that results havent gone our way saying that though Tunji and Scott i thought had good games. Also if people can remember Tunji has been out for a long time aswell hence Lewis coming inn throughout the summer we played 4-3-3 with Tunji sitting and for those that seen the lads @bamber its was very effective and when it was highlighted that 4-3-3 at moorlane wasnt working due to the width of the pitch it was narrowed and it was at this point we lost Tunji and inn lewis Scott and Gaz we had 3 very mobile midfielders but now we have all 3 back for Marine away its just a matter of who we play as the front 3 and id like JJ and Jordon to give width and webber in middle as our best finisher imo at the club amd jordon's assists this season have been awesome late teens so far and we have plenty on bench to change things with Allen Hine Seddon Joe. Id like to see a 4-2-1-2 with danny as a No.10 and maybe Hine and jordon up top gaz and scott protecting back 4. You could then change it and become more defensive bringing tunji on to sit to close a game out or inject more pace with JJ or introduce a target man in Sedds or Allen. Our squad is very good we'd all like another gaz and scott on bench but its just not viable at our level as they would be very expensive our defence options maybe a little light but we have jordon who if im right started off as a fullback Dawson maybe a left fullback now luke giverin has left but i maybe on my own but luke clarke for me is much better at fullback. Anyway plenty to think about. Happy posting peeps

You've missed the best player at the club out there Broughton
We need Poole to play every minute possible, we're so much better when he plays.

I don't think things are bad as we are making out.me included.Yes the title as probably gone, but I still think we are in with a good chance,of runners up.And That as got to be the aim now, starting on Saturday. Those teams in the mix are going to be saying the same thing,we are, win all our remaining games,.But who will do that,we have just got to keep believein, yes we go on about defencesive lapses, and mist chances. But one thing we must all agree on,is that we are still getting one hundred percent effort. And with people in the right positions, working for one another,is better than any sytems,or man in the hole up the AMMIES.

We had 3 of our best players missing on Saturday in Stopforth, Hulme and top scorer Poole.
I wonder how Darlington would have faired without Turnbull, Thompson and Gaskell?
Devils advocate I know...!

It's not only about the Darlington game. A very poor home record and a need for 6 or 7 chances to score one goal has been a season-long issue. We haven't closed games out as we should. That's happened when those 3 players have been on the pitch.
But many clubs would love to be in our position, and nobody is saying its all bad news. But a forum is bound to be critical and will always debate areas for improvement.

7 against Barwell, 4 against Skelmersdale, 4 against Rammy, 3 against Darlo.. That's 18 goals 4 games. And that's this year!!
Don't tell me it's a season long problem because it's not, it was a problem prior to December but if people are going to come on here and portion blame then get the stats.
Prior to the new year our defence kept us near the top due to lack of chances being scored. Since new year out defence has conceded too many important goals and it's not really as if teams have battered our door down! Facts fellas, FACTS!

We scored 3 Saturday, you should never ever lose a game of football after scoring 3 goals. I'm more concerned about the defence than going forward tbh The managers will sort, of that i'm sure

We weren't scoring enough so Johnson and Hine were brought in, these boys actually create there own chances. The dynamic of how we play has changed and once everyone is fit and used to how each other play and we mangage to shut the vocal door again then teams will get destroyed!
No teams at this level of football will live with why we have once full fit and functional, I actually am really looking forward to the run in now. Lynchy and Howson are immense and as good as there is, sort the defending out and we'll be cooking on gas.
