The Ammies came from a goal down to lead, only to have top spot snatched away by an injury time leveller - see the official match report here...

Cheers, good result even with the conceding of the injury time goal.

An excellent result despite conceding that leveller from the not so Jolly Green Giants. Given the number of changes both in the starting line-up and on the bench it was hardly surprising that we almost looked - and certainly played - like at team of strangers, with Danny Lloyd-Weston being the prime reason for us only being one goal down at the break. With Sam Madeley seemingly plowing a lone furrow upfront against a well drilled Vics defence and the ball spending more time in the air it was crucial things were changed in the second half if we were to avoid a confidence sapping defeat. The introduction of Tom Buckley immediately after the break and James Thorne later on gave us much more of a presence up front as well as bringing out the best in a number of other players who have struggled earlier to impress. And whereas Vics were dominant in the opening half I thought our quality of play and two sweetly struck goals were going to give us maximum points before a late surge gave them a share of the points which on the balance of play they deserved but was nevertheless disappointing given the timing of the goal. I certainly feel a lot better and more hopeful of our prospects given that there will now be genuine competition for places rather than automatic selection and selection will be based on performance rather than reputation. It can only generate a more competitive spirit within the squad which should bring out better performances from all concerned. Now let's do Radcliffe this coming weekend! Given that I didn't get a team sheet on Saturday and that there was no tannoy working to announce line ups, substitutions and goal scorers - or the raffle prize - can anyone please tell what is the situation regarding this in terms of league requirements? To have no tannoy in place smacks of unprofessionalism and is more akin to a park side rather than a team at our level. I believe that this appears to be the norm at Valley Road rather than the exception!

It's a great result when you factor-in new signings and playing the top team away. I think we're still in the race for the title, when it did look for a while that the play-offs were the most likely end to our season.
