Hi folks,
I am researching live football on TV historically and wondered if you could tell me whether Salford have had any matches shown live on television prior to the three FA Cup ties this season?
Many thanks!

I'll take that as a very sarcastic way of saying "no, they are the only ones".

They were filmed when they played Chester about eight or nine years ago and I think the footage found its way on to Football Focus, but I believe that the game against Notts County this season was the first full-match live coverage broadcast of any of our games.

Thanks mozzer.
I think I'm right in saying that the club's first real piece of national exposure was a feature by the BBC in 1990 about Salford entering the FA Cup for the first time. Other than that, I am not aware of the club having featured in any extended highlights programmes and certainly not any full-length matches.

I think you had the answers all the time but were just checking to see whether we knew or not!

Hehe, my last post was fuelled by information I found on Wikipedia and made me look more clued up than I actually am on the subject. The question re: live TV games was genuine. I strongly suspected that these were the only games the club has ever had shown live but just wanted to make sure. Does anyone actually know how much TV revenue Salford received for each of the three cup games this season?

Many thanks! If you're researching non-league clubs on live TV, I believe one of the first games (if not the first) to be shown live involving a non-league team was Aylesbury United vs Walsall in the FA Cup 1st round in 1990. The mighty Cliff Hercules played up front for AUFC, together with Kenny Sansom's brother Dave. It finished 1-0 to Walsall, but still great memories.

I've been ticking each club off as I go along. Any competitive match that was shown live on TV is of interest to me and what I'm working on. Having looked it up, it would appear that the Aylesbury game was on Sky. Cheers!
