Just wondered if using a 3G has been considered to ease fixture pile up and protect the home pitch to some extient. These pitches are first class now, Sutton Coldfield play on one and they were one of only 2 matches that played on Saturday. There is one available at AJ Bell that would also test the water to what sort of crowds that venue would attract, Prestwich Heys have already used it this season. It may also suit Salfords fast attacking style, on a boggy pitch the players have struggled with conditions and this surface May to be there advantage

I personally don't like Salford City FC and the AJ Bell stadium even being in the same sentence, let alone playing there. But I get what you're saying about the 3G surfaces.

I am also led to believe there are plans in place for surface development in the close season I.e drainage system etc

Yes defo pitch improvements in close season tenders have already gone out for contractors the pitch already has a good sand layer it just needs linking with the surface more efficiently this will then act as a sponge and we shouldnt have much trouble getting games on due to the rain. As for playing on a 3g pitch the pitch must be enclosed i,e railings alround the pitch plus secure access to the changing rooms hence the gates at moorlane opening blocking access to the public of the changing rooms but im not 100% on the markings so no other markings allowed 9v9 5v5 markings or hockey. I think SSV is the only 3g in salford which comes up to scratch and as already stated AJ bell although used by Skem it wouldnt be ideal for us to use the costs alone and lack of revenue generated through the bar and shop would be wiped out our only saving grace is that everybody else is in same boat and looking at state of workingtons pitch after weekend they are gonna be out of action for a while at home rammys pitch looked in a better state after being under water (flooded).
