Our trip to Ossett Town on Saurday has been postponed. Routine maintenance work on the floodlights involved access for a vehicle of some size, leading to considerable damage being done to the playing surface. This cannot be put right in time for the weekend so the match has been postponed. No new date has been announced yet.

Think we should be awarded a 3-0 win and the points due to Ossett's incompetence and negligence! Oh well, I'll just have to have a long overdue spring clean of my flat instead.

Some questions that pop up from this... What effect will this have on Webber's and the potential suspension for Seddon? More likely that they will run concurrently now? Is that fair considering the postponement was out of our hands and as such why should we be punished?

Suspensions have a fixed starting date - at our level, 2 weeks after the red card was issued.
Therefore Danny Webber's suspension starts on 6th December and covers the next three games Salford play. At the moment, that's
13/12 Padiham 20/12 Northwich 26/12 Radcliffe
We anticipate a 3 match ban for Seddon, too - that would start on 16th December and would cover...
20/12 Northwich 26/12 Radcliffe 28/12 Harrogate RA
So, we're missing the pair of them together for 2 games - it would have been 1 if the Ossett game had gone ahead.
I consider this unfortunate rather than unfair but at this time of year postponements become more likely and both suspensions could end up running for weeks.
Less fair in my opinion is the suspension for every 5 yellow cards picked up - if they are picked up by certain dates. Paul Linwood and Chris Lynch have both had a 1 game suspension for 5 yellow cards before the last Saturday in December and both are on course to get to 10 before the next milestone date - that would be a 2 match ban. I feel this system is balanced against defenders who tend to pick up more bookings than other players - due to the nature of their game.
I'd like to see that one changed.

Interesting point that about defenders, I'd never thought of it that way but yes it is weighed against them somewhat. I don't know why but it just seems to sit a bit uneasy on me the ossett postponement, inclement weather you can't argue with just feel a little hard done by that it is to do more with ground repairs. Anyway thems the rules and looking at the forecast that game would probably have been off and at the end of the day rightly or wrongly if you don't get sent off you don't get suspended!
