Only my second game of the season and a relatively short trip to Birkenhead on the supporters coach for Friday night's clash with Tranmere Rovers. The meeting at Prenton Park matches up two teams with identical playing records (both having won, drawn and lost twice in their opening six league fixtures) as well as being the division's two lowest scoring sides with ourselves having netted just four times with our hosts one less. Put that in direct contrast to last season when the two respective league meetings saw a whopping 13 goals shared with both sides winning on their opponents grounds. Salford won early season 4-3 on the Wirral while Tranmere gained ample revenge with a 5-1 reversal at Moor Lane on Boxing Day which precipitated Neil Wood's exit from the managerial chair. That win at our hosts ground ended a miserable league run against the Rovers which had seen us winless against them in seven previous meetings and scoring just twice. On paper then at least it looks like being either a goalless or low scoring draw but given our consistent inconsistency it really could go either way. My only hope is that we don't display the sort of half arsed defending that I saw in the highlights of last weekends game against Walsall and that we're prepared to have a go on goal when the opportunity allows. See you there.

I didn't think that the Walsall game was bad... it was just that mad start to the second half when Walsall came out like a demonic express train. I'm banking on our team still feeling justly sore over losing 2-0... and that they'll take it out on Tranmere on Friday.

Saturday was pretty even other than the 15 minutes when Walsall blew us away. We played some nice stuff but as ever this season lacked a cutting edge up front. If we can be more clinical up front we've every chance of a win. Less of the aimless crosses and more through balls. We've not won away yet, although we haven't lost either 😁. I'll go with a 2-1 win

Treated my old man to the 5-1 last season. Not spoke to me since.🤣
It was a great first half against Walsall, unlucky not to go in at half time in front. No idea what's going on with these half time team talks, Cheltenham week before was identical. Came out second half full of butties and half asleep!
Ever optimistic with these new strikers and hoping the players don't dwell on last Saturday. 2-1 win or a draw for me so long as KR keeps his half time butties out the way.

Came out second half full of butties and half asleep! Perhaps shirt sponsors Fireball are giving them all free half-time shots!
