This weekend sees us play our final away and penultimate game of the season at Newport County's Rodney Parade ground and it's hoped we don't leave there looking like a load of plonkers! However, given the form of both teams at present, it appears that both our hosts and us are already fitting the bill! Two wins, a draw and eight defeats (half of them in our last four games) have given us a points return of 7 from 33 while Newport similarly have lost their last six outings with two wins and eight losses from their last ten giving a points haul of 6 from 30. Neither side then is going into Saturday's fixture on the back of a decent run of form which suggests that both are just playing out their fixtures with one eye firmly fixed on the close season and the changes that are inevitably set to follow. We've got an excellent record against The Exiles never having lost to them in eight EFL2 meetings and only losing one in ten overall (in an FA Cup game) so I'm hoping for a continuation of that run although my head says 1-1. Hope the Ammies fans who go in fancy dress have a good day out with myself scheduled to be at Whaley Bridge FC the same afternoon. Weather permitting of course! www.11v11.com/teams/salford-city/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Newport%20County/

I don’t care now. I’m away for the final home game, so the season has finished for me.
I hope he experiments and gives some of our squad a game.

We need to give some of our 'kids' a run out in a game like this with next weeks home game being the best option to give those players who won't be with us next season the chance of a final farewell.

It may also serve as a statement of intent from KR. I'm not saying play a whole different team, but why play those who clearly won't be with us in 2 weeks?

The B team is top of its league so the youngsters clearly have something about them. Why not give some of them a go with the incentive to push for the first team next season. Davies, Humbles, De Costa, Malcolm and the like would love a first team game I'm sure and I don't see how they can be any worse than the dross served up the last month or so. There's nothing at stake so there would be no pressure, leaving them free to express themselves.
I'll go for a score draw or failing that a 2-1 win as we do have a decent record against Newport.

In the B team's last match - which they won - I smiled on reading that Nmai scored our first goal... connecting with a cross... with his head! Nice one Kelly.

Couldn't be less bothered now lol, lets just get this season done with! B Team seem to be doing alright and loads of chat about potential there so just throw a load of them in give them a go and see who puts a hand up for next season!

3 times as many shots on goal. 3 times as many shots on target and 3 times as many corners. So come we only scored once? That really sums up one of our main problems this season and yet again it wasn't until the 82nd minute with the introduction of top scorer Matt Smith that we were finally able to break the deadlock 10 minutes later and keep up our incredible winning/unbeaten league record over Newport. If Matt Smith isn't with us next season then I hope to high heaven that we bring someone in who can find the back of the net as regularly as him otherwise we'll be in serious trouble. Well done anyway to the boys for this much needed victory.

Didn't get to watch the game but kept up with stats. Looked like we hammered them but took a late goal to win it by guess who.... I'll miss that lad if he goes next season.

As he himself says….he has the same pace now as he did 10 years ago. If he’s fit and up for the challenge, why get rid?
