About the only saving grace today was the bottom 3 lost too. 2 players sent off, 7 bookings what an absolute shower. Dare I say Neil Wood wasn't the main problem with this lot. They just aren't good enough. Some serious clearing out needed in summer.

First time since KR era that I've questioned the attitude of some of those players. Watt walking off smiling (albeit maybe ironically) summed it up.
Take the red cards out of it, we had so many opportunities that were half arsed. I also don't think that's a goal if Smith was on (same story against Walsall). So many poor performances I'm unsure who I WOULDNT replace anymore.

Sounds like the same old excuses. He's said for the last 3 games we need to work on things. Whatever they are doing in training to improve isn't working. Hopefully we bring in some more quality for next season or it'll be another relegation scrap.
Fingers crossed FGR & Sutton drop points in their next games as I'm not confident of picking up anything in our final 3 games.

Major clear out this summer. This team can’t even make the middle of the table, let alone a promotion push.
We (apparently) have skillful players, but we have virtually no pace. We need that next season.
Perhaps in the next two games, let’s play our 23 goal striker. “That means we hoof it up” you say. Or that we need to get the ball on the ground. Would it make any difference, honestly?

Given he's our leading scorer, as well as the division's second highest, I can only assume that Matt Smith's 'no starts' in the last three games are a prelude to his exit from the playing side in the summer and that KR is testing out the water of not having a big target man in place for next season. That may all be well and good but it's more than evident by now that we need a serious upgrade upfront given the lack of goals scored (and numerous chances missed) if we're to see any improvement in that department and if we're serious about improving our league position next time around. Had it not been for the presence of Matt Smith at BOTH ends of the pitch I dread to think of where we might be now! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/salford-city/top-scorers

I didn’t want to say anything until I had seen the highlights of the melee at the end of the game as we were down the other end, but if both Watt and Vassell’s red cards are not either reduced to a yellow in Theo’s case or completely chalked off for Watt because the level of incompetence from Ben Atkinson throughout was beyond scary. Reeves sprints off the end of the wall before the ball moves to hoof it away, Usain Bolt in his prime isn’t getting to that as quick as Reeves without a 8yards head start.
The game itself was even and we had the clearest chances in my opinion, Callum Hendry blazed one over from 8yards out in front of the away fans first half that hasn’t made the highlights that looked easier to score than miss. Their goal looked soft from where I was as I believe Declan John allows their big lad to get goal side. Height discrepancy was significant between the two, and when he picked him up on the following corner I was convinced we would be two down.
Tactically that’s the first time I have seen Vassell in the supporting ‘libero’ type role - stepping out of defence, which I believe he was doing against Walsall. I thought he played it well and as a work around to get some more physicality into midfield which worked well in combination with our press. However like so many things this season, the theory was sound, execution was never going to be 100% right because we don’t have the players to play the roles. McLennan offered little playing deeper on the right and cuts an image of a player going through the motions til the end of the season. Garbutt yesterday was rarely on the ball as needed, Watson was trying to play higher than he has of late from what I have seen but McAleny was cutting off his runs frequently in the left channel. I think there is a lot of merit in this system we have been the last few games but frequently when Wimbledon got on the ball our midfield and defensive shape clasped into a mass of red and blue shirts with Tilt and Mariappa the last two out the back defending an on running attacker. The Palace loanee - Gordon who came on and caused Cairns kittens when running through into the corner, I thought the calamity Cairns tag line was coming out for that. Gordon’s physicality was a test for our back line, He looks well suited to the EFL and impressed me when he came on.
Lastly on KRs treatment yesterday and his post game comments. Clearly this is a long running feud after ground man incident when he was Charlton manager and least they didn’t break out the ‘Karl Robinson is a Lying C**t’ banner as in previous years for the gaffer who was getting it from the get go. He gave a bit back at the end when he came down to the away end after full time to the lads behind the goal and you could see it got to him in his post game interview. He could’ve gone further on Ben Atkinson’s poor performance as ref in my mind it was by far and away the worst I have seen all year. Under KRs comments on YT a number of wombles have said we came to play rugby blah blah but diving and leading with an elbow seemed par for the course for them and the ref let it go or gave them the free kick. The ref had a very real barring on yesterdays result and general flow of the game. On a personal note that was my second game in 3 days ruined by poor referring performances so it may have effected my mood more than normal, so to put it effectively down to ‘they are all s**t at this level or they wouldn’t be here’ is frustrating. With results around us appreciate yesterday may not matter but we need a win from a confidence amongst the support stand point as much as staying up. UTA!

Smith would’ve struggled in that set up were we rarely got wide and put crosses in or the little chip balls from the edge of the 18yard box. The way they were going down and the card happy nature of the ref for anyone in red he may of walked like Theo and Watt. Additionally him and tiny shorts Joe Lewis grappling would’ve added an adults only rating to proceedings, and the idea of that in the depths of Wandsworth on a grey Saturday afternoon has just brought my breakfast up.

I’m not sure that Hendry is the answer either? I appreciate that he’s only recently returned, but he’s yet to impress in the games he’s played and I don’t see him scoring that regular. We’re facing players with bags of pace. Our defence seems slow and laboured every game and I’ll say it again….Tilt is the only one I’d keep, maybe Garbutt. But Shephard seems permanently crocked. The rest don’t impress me at all. Ashley has been out for what….nearly 7 months and has cardiac issues. Mallan may as well go. I actually don’t know who is and isn’t still on our books? Lund……he never impresses me. I like Watson but his form is up and down. Watt has finally started to get back to something like his best.

Doesn't help either that KR was the former manager of Milton Keynes Dons who 21 years after their formation still live rent free in Wimbledon's fans minds after all these years. Get over it ffs and concentrate on your team!

I think I'm right in saying McLennan, Vassell, Mallan, Hendry, Watt, Nmai, Lund and Smith are all out of contract in summer. If Smith wants to stay I'd keep him as an option for a year. Watt and Nmai I'd also try and hang onto. The others can go for me. Hendry isn't a L2 striker and the others either aren't up to it or perma crocked. On that note I'd pay Shephard off too, I doubt he's played more than 25 games over his time with us and just takes up a squad space.
I think we need GK, RB x 2, CB x 2, LB, CM x 2 or 3, CF x 2. Better quality and more pace than we currently have too. If we hang onto the bulk of the current squad it's another bottom 6 season.
FGR play their game in hand on Tuesday against Mansfield. If they don't win they can't catch us. A win against Bradford is a must to not only stop the rot but guarantee safety assuming Sutton win.

I don’t know how the club actually resolve the squad depth issue and the injection of quality required in the summer without providing a bigger wage budget and potentially spending some money if they want a go at promotion in 24/25. Should Watt, Vassell, Smith and Hendry go your arguably having to replace the spine of the team despite needing numbers and upgrades in key positions. Plus reload the b-team… tough gig in the recruitment team this summer.

I see KR has been charged with improper conduct by the EFL following the game with Wimbledon. Seems he's had a go at the ref after the game. I do like him but he does seem to have a very short fuse at times. No doubt a fine and a touchline ban is heading his way
