After the midweek draw with Stockport we take on Morecambe (Morry Camby as my Dad called it) at Moor Lane tomorrow. A decent set of results in the games today means we have a great chance to register a win and take a big step towards safety. I don't doubt we can score against pretty much anyone but until we deal with our powder puff defence with its ability to drop regular bollcoks then I fear another draw. I wonder if KR might freshen things up a bit given we played only 2 days ago so Hendry and Morton starting may happen. I'll stick my neck out for a 2-1 win but wouldn't be surprised at another 2-2.

Echo that. I wasn’t confident at 2-0 the other night, because our defence is prone to making mistakes. But I’m at least looking for the same commitment we showed on Thursday and in KRs first few games. If we have that….we can beat almost anyone.

I hope KR can come up with something for this defence soon. Just impossible to see a clean sheet with this lot. Probably a 2-2 draw

Not going to be at the game today but following Saturday’s results I hope we can push for the win. No Garbutt means John at LB surely and then it comes down to Ingram or Chester’s at RB. Either way KR needs to do something about the lack of balance in wide areas because considering we have Smith as our main outlet for a flick on in build up it’s as rare as hens teeth that someone either runs the channel or we are in a position to get the ball out to someone on either wing. It’s counter productive having a 6ft5 striker who just needs to be in the box for a header to not actively look to cross from out wide.
I appreciate the insistence on effectively a 4-2-4 or a weird asymmetrical 4-2-1-3 #hoofball tactic we are playing should be enough to get us the required points for safety. But after Thursday the sooner we are done with it the better. I worry we need to be 3 up to see teams off with a level of comfort, otherwise we get what we saw 2 up on Thursday. Huge opportunity against a sketchy Morecambe this - 3 -1 Salford UTA!

I thoroughly enjoyed that and what a refreshing change to see some actual football without the option of welly it to Smith. We bossed the game from start to finish with the only real downer being giving away another sloppy goal. I worried for a while we'd capitulate again but for once we didn't panic and once the 3rd went in it was never in doubt. I hope we got a glimpse of the kind of football we can expect next season once the squad is refreshed.

2 more wins and I think it’s job done for KR. Great result and sounded like a solid performance all round. Just seen Robinson’s comments post match and it sounded like he felt validated by one or two today who came in. Onto Notts County next week and two winnable games over Easter. UTA!!

Certainly a very interesting line up at kick off which meant we could have a real go at playing football on the ground instead of constantly looking for Matt Smith's head and the big man deserved a bit of a rest before eventually coming on in the second half. The BBC report described all three goals as superb and you can't really disagree with the execution of them which were top class. I was frustrated with our solitary one goal interval lead as I felt we'd created enough decent openings to have led by at least three. When Hendry volleyed in the second we looked really comfortable but poor defending again cost us and thoughts of Stockport last Thursday immediately sprung to mind. That said Morecambe have to be the most toothless attacking side that I've seen at Moor Lane this season as one direct shot on goal was all they could muster over the whole game. A third was the icing on the cake and relieved any possible anxiety that Salford fans may have had and maybe with an extra bit of composure, a final incisive through ball and a willingness to shoot instead of taking an extra touch the final scoreline wouldn't have been an injustice if we'd scored five or six. Pleased for McLennan who was given man of the match award as well as Hendry with his goal as he's not made too much of an impact lately and I'd very much like to see Callum Morton score for all his endeavours. Another three points towards safety!

Of course they are entirely interested in finding out how many people attended and not to trot out the tired old trope about us having no fans. Sad gets

Worst team we’ve seen at our place. I assume they are mid-table because they had some decent early form. We can only beat what’s in front of us and we did that well. I’d argue that we’d have been further ahead if Smith had started, given the chances in the air, but KR switched the team around and it worked.
Another game closer to safety and let’s hope we can continue this run.
Changes in the Summer though and perhaps more than we imagined. The long-term sick need to be let go if we can.
