The first of two home games in four days with the visit of Stockport County on Thursday night with Sky TV cameras in attendance for live transmission. While Stockport still remain firmly in contention for promotion it's evident that their form has taken something of a wobble in recent weeks which should give us some degree of optimism following our own decline in fortunes which have seen just one point taken from our last four games. While we were losing at MK Dons last weekend it took until the 97th minute for County to register a 1-0 victory over Newport County, their first win and only second goal scored in five games, making it just two wins in their last seven. After looking like certainties for the title after a record breaking run of victories it's become a much more tighter looking situation at the top of the table with just five points separating the top four teams although Stockport do have games in hand on all their rivals. Hopefully the pitch will have had the necessary time to recover in the 12 days since our last home outing and we can accumulate three more points towards making us mathematically safe from the drop.

Madden publicly said he wants to drop deeper down the pitch into midfield and also wants to return to Ireland. Contract up in summer CLE not been treated too well since joining in terms of game time but went to Wimbledon and came back a different player but he's not good enough for league 1. I was thinking more touray and Bailey for watt. Touray not really played LB in a 4 and Bailey plays LCM

It'd be handy for us if Kelly Nmai is fit again for Thursday; I seem to remember Kelly doing a great job in continuously harrying the great Paddy Madden the last time that we met.

I still haven't stopped laughing yet! We'd long seen the best he had to offer at Moor Lane and Bailey never impressed sufficiently enough for us to regard him as a loss to the side. Elliott Watt's contract expires at the end of the current season so it'll be interesting to see what happens with him in the close season.

I would find it extremely unlikely that he'll figure in Thursday's game given the way he looked walking around the ground pre-match versus Gillingham.

We need to snap out of this poor run and quickly. Our defence is as leaky as an old bucket so a clean sheet is extremely unlikely and beyond Smith we've no real goal threat. It's fairly obvious our tactics revolve around getting the ball to Smith for headers, either in the box or lay offs and our opponents have quickly worked this out. I'd like to see a bit of variety in our play to make us less predictable and to spread the goal threat. I'd go as far as dropping Smith to the bench and playing Luamba and Hendry as a front 2, making us play more along the ground. It won't happen of course but if it's same old same old on Thursday it'll be yet another home defeat to add to the list.

We have barely seen him at LB in a 4. Seen him play lwb/LCB in a 5/LCB in a 4. He can't use his right foot so can't beat a man because he cuts in and then passes back and he can't cross. Don't know how he's got 6 assists

Going into Thursday my feeling is this is somewhat of a free hit and the XI out there can just go for it. Tuesday nights results bar the Colchester Doncaster being rained off went against us, FGR and Grimsby results directly impact our place in the table. Tranmere beating Mansfield and Wrexham dropping points will motivate Stockport to get up to 69 points level with the league leaders Mansfield. At this point I can’t see us getting more than 6-8 points out of the next 9 games. Hopefully that will be enough to keep us up - I think Sutton and FGR will be the two that ultimately go down. Hopefully we have 2-3 back on Thursday, Stockport sticking with a 3-5-2 or reverting to a 4-4-2 will challenge our squad. If both Garbutt and John are available I would go with the same left side we used in KRs first game against FGR. The last few weeks have been too easy to target the midfield two or three like against Gillingham. Garbutt inverting was more effective than going man for man like we have done of late when trying to get on the ball in transition. Chester’s at right back hasn’t worked, but with Shep MIA, Ethan Ingram very much out of favour with KR and Vassell unable to play the position we are pretty snookered. Like the midweek Colchester game at ML I would be inclined to start Smith and McAleny on the bench and let Callum Hendry and Luamba or Morton try and run the CBs into the ground for an hour or so before reverting to Smith and Connor Mac. Mentioned after MK Dons it’s almost impossible to predict the XI especially with two games in close succession, so as much as I would like to see some sort of rotation I am expecting more of the same as the team who started against MK Dons. The ref for Thursday Ollie Yates, the same ref as the reverse fixture earlier in the season. He is card happy and looking at a recent post on Bathams Talk there is a perception he tries the book the home team repeatedly to appear fair… bit like Ross Joyce a few weeks back. The link to the thread is below - but with Stockport and the ratty types like Madden who will be in the refs ear constantly and an entitled support who will chime up for a cough towards their players, I am expecting we finish with either a fine for 6+ cards or 10 men. Factor in the Sky cameras I am expecting imitation Mike Dean. Notts confident at all - I think it will be close but can see Stockport having a bit more in the tank than us on the night. I’ll take a good performance and a good showing under the lights. UTA! bantamtalk.com/index.php?threads/referee-ollie-yates-vendetta-against-home-sides.7879/

I think we might just about squeak staying up if we can average around a point a game for the rest of the season. FGR have a tough run in where from Easter they play Stockport, Crewe, MKD, Mansfield and Wrexham in successive games. On paper you wouldn't expect them to get much from that lot. Sutton's run in is easier but we have the opportunity to beat them on Good Friday and with them currently 13 points behind us from a game more I'd say they are pretty much doomed already.
I'd say tomorrow is about our hardest game with our last 3 matches against teams with hopefully nothing much to play for by then. Anything we can get tomorrow would be a bonus but I think we might end up losing by 2 or 3 nil.

Where is best to park for someone with a blue badge? It's only on street parking and there's not much of that. There is a strictly enforced residents parking scheme but I believe blue badge holders can park there. Full details are on the match day info on the website
