We return to Moor Lane this weekend with the visit of promotion chasing Barrow and after two previously hugely contrasting home performances Ammies fans will be wondering which side it'll be that'll turn up on the day. Yet another another late comeback with a late equalising goal against Doncaster Rovers in midweek preserved Karl Robinson's seven match unbeaten run but he'll be demanding a lot more from his side as we look to put more distance between ourselves and the bottom two as well as trying to push further up the table. Tuesday night saw our visitors fall at home to a rare Forest Green Rovers win making it one win in their last five and just two from the last ten. It's a run that has seen the Cumbrian side slip out of the top three automatic promotion places and into a very much congested play off place albeit with one of the best defensive records in the division. Plenty to play for for both sides then which should hopefully mean a good open and competitive game. See you there.

Assuming the pitch survives the constant onslaught of rain it should be a better game than Tuesday. It's a low bar admittedly but I'm hoping for some actual football to be played tomorrow. Fatigue must be a factor now given this will be our 3rd game in a week on heavy pitches and the team hasn't really changed much since KR arrived so I wonder if we'll see a couple of changes. Personally I don't see what Morton offers to command a starting place and Smith must be weary after the rucking and mauling of Tuesday so I'd be tempted to freshen things up a bit. Whether KR does of course is moot.

Looking forward to today. It says a lot for how far we have come under KR in the blink of an eye, that two draws on the back of the Wrexham performance have brought back a whiff of trepidation about the game this afternoon. The fans sentiment towards the team since Boxing Day is night and day - Garbutt is a clear market for that the abuse he got that day versus the joy of the free kick going in mid weeks says it all.
Not worrying about promotion and (almost) not worrying about Relegation is a new feeling for me. The should’ve, would’ve, could’ve at the end of the season I know is coming , especially if we sneak into the top 10 in relation to bringing Robbo in earlier. But the perceived luxury of going into a Saturday where we can just absorb some good L2 football is something we should collectively embrace. I think this group has ability and there is enough to me to get behind. Notts having Shep today is a loss, Mallan and Ashley also but I think for one or two a big performance to due. Whether it’s starting or off the bench Callum Hendry is due a impactful day in front of goal. Connor Mac, Luamba, N’Mai the same.
Barrow home or away is always a funny one. But I fancy us to close out Feb with a solid performance, my head says draw but wouldn’t be shocked if we put a few past them. 2-1 Ammies UTA!

What a game and what on earth does KR say to them to have them playing like this?
Lots of great performances today but for me Elliott Watt was as good as ever. He controlled the game and given the weather, he did it amazingly well.
Not a lot else to say. Second in the form table and well deserved.

Belter. Such a positive shift in mindset and attitude since KR came in. I really thought today was going to be a bad one!

An even first half which to be honest other than the goals (particularly Callum Hendry's piledriver) I don't remember too much about. Probably suffering from A&E Wythenshawe Hospital fatigue after two long and exhaustive waits over the last three days! Second half got off to a terrible start and there were murmurs of discontent around me as to how we've always seemed to have had to chase the game in recent outings. I don't think anyone could have foreseen such a dramatic turnaround at that stage but credit to the lads for some excellent finishing and plain dogged determination which was made more impressive given the conditions. Not really fair to single out individual performances as everyone gave their all in an energy sapping contest although the introduction of N'Mai and Chesters clearly gave Barrow's defence a lot more to deal with. I'm loving the energy, the enthusiasm and the overall work ethic that has come to the fore since KR's arrival. It's now four wins and four draws under his direction which makes a mockery of a lot of Barrow fans comments on their forum that they should be beating teams like us. Really?

One of his 2nd half passes down the wing to Nmai was sublime, particularly given the swamp like conditions. 16 points from 8 games since KR arrived compared to 23 from 25 before he came speaks volumes for the impact he's having.

1st half was so frustrating when within a minute of us hitting the bar to go 2 up they equalised. When they took the lead I thought that was it but credit to KR for the changes with Nmai and Chesters giving them far more to think about down the flanks. He'd been telling the players all game to step up the tempo and they certainly did. Lund was coming on as well but we scored whilst he was getting prepped but looking to make 3 changes so early in the half was a world away from cautious Charlie before him so well done to him.
If I'm being picky some of our defending for their goals was a bit dodgy but to score 5 on an absolute mud bath of a pitch was really impressive. Also the relentless nature of the team to go on and get 4 and 5 after taking the lead was great. Oh what could have been if our owners had bitten the bullet earlier and brought KR in in November when it was clear NW had lost the team.

Yeah, today's game was ( eventually, that is ) a great one; the second best so far in the reign of Robinson. I've an annoying trait of never being quite satisfied with the way things have gone. And, like Chip, I just cannot stop speculating on - good as we are doing at present - just how much further up the league we would now be sitting if only we had got our house in order a few weeks earlier than we did.

No point crying over spilt milk Alan. Just be thankful that Neil Wooden finally got the chop because if he hadn't we would have been right in the doo-doo in terms of league position and who knows how many fans we would have haemorrhaged due to his mind numbing boring tactics. Karl Robinson is the messiah and that's official!

It looks it from an untrained eye like mine 🤷♂️ Mathematically off course it's possible as we're only nine points off the top seven but immediately behind the current top three there are ELEVEN teams already ahead of us and in contention for the play off places with just two points separating 7th to 14th place! Start thinking about achieving a top seven finish and I believe it creates unnecessary pressure. Let's just try and keep to the present trajectory and stick to the saying of 'taking each game as it comes' and see where it takes us.
