We face a tough test at Gresty Road this weekend when we meet promotion chasing Crewe Alexandra who presently occupy 4th place in the table just 4 points behind table toppers Stockport County. The Alex appear to be back on track having had a productive January by winning won all four league outings after having previously taken just three points from a possible eighteen. In terms of goal power they have the divisions 4th highest strike rate with 56 although they have let in a hefty 41 goals in comparison. Goals have been spread around 16 players with Elliott Nevitt leading the way with 11 to his credit followed by Courtney Baker-Richardson on 10 and Chris Long on 9. Previous meetings between our two clubs have so far seen the home side win every time with us having won all 3 home games and scoring 10 times (including a 4-2 win at Moor Lane back in October) while Crewe have beaten us twice at Gresty Road scoring 8 goals in the process (including that 4-3 scoreline last season that saw us snatch defeat from the jaws of victory). In total then 5 meetings have so far seen 25 goals goals shared out between us. Goalless draw on Saturday anyone then?

You surprise me, Chris P. We should never go into any match prepared to settle for anything less than 3 points. Our guys are playing well, their heads are in the right place.
We can win this one.

Ah I didn’t say we should to try and win. I’d never want us to play for a draw. Just saying that if we came away with a point, I’d be relatively happy.

I would agree with you if we were in a promotion race or even mid-table. We are in a relegation fight. 46 points should be enough for safety. We're on 28 points from 28 games. I'll be happy with any points, even 1, until we've avoided the drop.

We obviously should be looking to win but we are playing a very good team in good form so it will be tough. I'd be happy enough with a point but we need to start picking up wins asap. I see Ashley is likely to be out for the rest of the season with an injury picked up in training which I guess is what prompted Davies coming in. KR was hinting in the pre match comments at maybe not bringing in anybody else before the end of the month and looking towards the summer. Finance seems to be one factor in that which possibly confirms the apparent belt tightening we've noticed. On the face of it with everyone fit our squad is a reasonable size but we'll see what happens.
The realistic part of me thinks we might lose this one but hopefully we can get something

I'd be very happy with a point at Crewe and anything better would be an added bonus. Given the way we're now competing I'm far more optimistic as regard match outcomes.

Woohoo!! Why did we not get rid of Wood earlier, we'd have been well out of danger by now. Showed great character to come back and win after blowing the lead so close to HT. Onwards and upwards now, hopefully a rare home win against Mickey Mouse FC next week. UTA!

We're not a 'in a relegation fight' team, we're now a 'good enough for promotion' team. We've just gotta make up for lost time. Fast.
Never say draw. Salford City are winners!

Get in! I wasn't there this afternoon and then went to Prescot in the evening for a concert - hence the late comments. What can I say but bloody brilliant!
