Probably a fair result on reflection where we had the better of the first half and they had the better of the second. Both sides had decent opportunities to win the game although Salford keeper Alex Cairns was the busier of the two and made at least a couple of crucial saves, Junior Luamba looked really pacey and dangerous with defender Curtis Tilt really impressing me in particular with his strength and composure. In the second half I thought we gave the ball away too casually at times and there were at least three occasions where we put ourselves needlessly under pressure. Plenty of effort but we didn't trouble their keeper nearly enough after the break whereas as the game went on I was thinking they'd grab one on the break. Not too shabby a point come the final whistle with KR's side still unbeaten in three outings since his arrival. On a final note I thought the referee was dreadful with allowing Matt Smith to be literally dragged to the ground all over the field, gave them at least three or four free kicks where we cleanly won the ball and booked players for fairly innocuous looking challenges. Not too far off the play offs now!

I thought last night on balance was a fair result. My big take away of the 3 games into KR reign is there appears to be a much clearer direction of travel as to what the lads need to do. Good example and it’s not surprising really is Watson, he has been more active in games and is getting into positions like last night to get shots away. I have always liked Ryan Watson since he came from TRFC especially for his ability around the opponents box so it’s good to see him being utilised properly again.
I thought KR comments about respect and the support interesting. I can think of one or two instances that may relate to but it was good to hear a coach acknowledge the supports relationship with what we see week in week out in a realistic manner, not sanitised like is trumpeted by the owners. I think collectively all we can do for the time being is get behind the team, because we are in a bit of a no man’s land with Grimsby and Doncaster so it will be a while til we make significant jumps in the table. Just need to keep on rolling on - UTA!

Genuinely gutted that I got stuck in a 5 hour delay on the M60 between 4pm-9pm last night. I desperately wanted to take my daughter to see this game. Sounds like we had a good run out in the first half, ran out of steam in the second. The new manager's press conferences are a breath of fresh air- very real, honest, inspiring- all the things that have been lacking for the last couple of years. Seems like Robinson has got a lot of things going for him- players obviously responding to him, he's flexible, he's a good communicator and the players are playing with a bit of heart. There's a feeling that there's been a turnaround in the club and that good pastures lie ahead. Hopefully we can keep this up and it won't just be a new manager bounce.
