Any reason why its a Friday night?
Given the lack of undersoil heating, typical temperatures in January, and that these are much lower in the evenings... Seems really strange to play this on a Friday night...
Also not another local club with a home game on Saturday, surely a Saturday 3pm KO would have attracted more than usual, via pay on the day, and more chance of the match taking place

We played them at their ground on a Friday night so it's reciprocal as well as giving us an extra rest day before Bradford City away next Tuesday night. Having said that the Colchester game was arranged before the original Bradford City game was postponed. We've played Notts County on a Friday night and are set to play Sutton United a t home on Friday 29th March having already visited London in midweek earlier in the season. I think though it's to try and attract a few more floating spectators but it suits me fine as I can also watch Whalley Range AFC on a Saturday as well!

The floating reason, doesnt really play out this particular weekend (based on who is playing at home around us), unless they are looking at making it a more permenant thing next season and this is a trial for that (I remember Tranmere used to play their homes on Fridays in the 90s). All a bit strange

All a bit strange Too many people sit on their backsides watching football on a Saturday afternoon so maybe that's another reason? I remember Stockport County always playing Friday nights in the late 60's to early 70's under the slogan of 'go, go. go. County' with the main reason being that most working class people then were paid weekly and on Friday's. By bringing the games forward a day it meant that a lot of individuals hadn't already spent a lot of their money in the pub before the traditional Saturday afternoon kick off time!

I'm pretty certain we swapped to Friday just after the away game pre Xmas. We did get some stick and an objection from our opponents for moving the Notts County game which was deemed an experiment in playing on that night. Presumably with the intention of getting more fans in. I guess they thought that with Colchester already moving the away game it was an opportunity to play another Friday night.
Obviously the weather couldn't be predicted but I fear it will be postponed on Friday due to a frozen pitch which given the forecast may well have thawed by Saturday.
29th March is Good Friday by the way so should be a pm kick off.

And to no great surprise…. The game is off. With the forecast increase in temperatures tomorrow and Saturday, I’m confident a sat 3pm game goes ahead
