This Saturday sees us make the long journey to Crawley Town who are undoubtedly the team who we've struggled to beat with the least success in the EFL. Since promotion to the Football League for season 2019/20 we've met nine times with the Sussex side having won four times, ourselves just once with the remaining four games being drawn and with our hosts enjoying one of their better seasons they currently sit equal on points just outside the top seven on goal difference following an impressive away win at Bradford City last Saturday. If you do the Football Pools and are looking for a banker score draw then this weekends fixture should on the face of it be avoided as Crawley have both won and lost six times in their previous twelve league outings, but given our playing record against them I don't think we'd be too unhappy with a share of the points at the very least! Their leading scorer is Danilo Orsi who has found the net 15 times in 26 games since arriving in the summer from Grimsby Town with Adam Campbell next up with 6 goals. Ammies fans may remember the diminutive Campbell playing for Notts County when his goal bound effort was miraculously scooped off the line by Steve Howson in our never to be forgotten FA Cup win in 2015. Hopefully the feelgood factor created by Karl Robinson's arrival at Moor Lane last week will be in evidence again as we seek our first league victory at the 12th time of asking!

For once I'm reasonably optimistic we might actually get something out of this one but either way we need to start picking up wins and quickly. We've a tough run of fixtures after next week with us playing Crewe, Bradford, Wrexham, Barrow and Mansfield before the end of February so the sooner we can rack up a few points and climb away from danger the better. I'll go for a nervy 2-1 to us tomorrow

I don’t take any notice of omens or the ‘bogie team’ comments, but then our players then go on to prove that it is ‘a thing’.
It’s 11 v 11 and we should be capable of getting something from this.

Anyone know how long KR is banned from the touchline?

Anyone know how long KR is banned from the touchline? He's been charged with misconduct and has till Monday to plead his case. He's on the touchline tomorrow but a hearing will decide his ban. Adkins at Tranmere got a one game ban for misconduct and abusive behaviour which KR isn't charged with so I'd be mighty pissed off if he got more than that

There was never any doubt in my mind that Luke Bolton wasn't injured as such and just didn't want to play for Neil Wood so we simply kept hold of him with the intention of selling him in the January transfer window. The arrival of Karl Robinson appears to have clearly changed all that!

Well waddya know, Shep, Ashley, Hendry and Vassell all back training on grass and nearly ready to return. Fancy that! If ownership believes your theory every one of them needs to be cleared out as quickly as possible. I was no fan of Wood and thought he should have been gone long ago but a player mutiny can not be tolerated. I personally believe it is more of a coincidence as Shep has been injured his entire career, Ashley is coming up on 4 months out and there is no doubt about his health issue, Hendry was projected back this time back in December, and Vassell's injury was not clear but there was no suggestion it was a major issue.

I wasn't there today but a great result for the boys. Looking at the statistics we had 35 shots on goal against their 10 with 12 on target against 1 and 10 corners against their 2. Wow! Get in!

That felt like a massive 3 points with Colchester, FG and Sutton all dropping points. More importantly the entire performance seemed much improved! For someone who's just back from injury Hendry looked sharp.

Thought it was going to be one of those games where their keeper had a blinder and we couldn't finish. All credit to them for keeping going and managing the win. Whatever KR is telling them clearly worked as they looked sharp and completely dominated the game. The challenge of course is sustaining it over the coming months but for the first time in ages I'm really looking forward to going on Friday. The change from a few weeks ago is stark and not just because some players have returned. UTA!

That was our best performance in months. Their keeper had a great game and our finishing was poor at times or that could have been 5 or 6 goals. Watson made some poor choices and Luamba was unimpressive but with players back from injuries filling out a bench we will finally have competition for places in the team. Bolton looked much better in his natural wing position. Garbutt had an excellent game. The energy N'Mai/Hendry provided off the bench proved to be the difference. I'll be curious to see if going forward Smith retains his position in the team with Hendry on the left of Robinson's preferred 4-3-3 or if Smith gets dropped. Lastly it was great seeing Ashley back as I was unsure if he would ever make another appearance.

Salford were battering Crawley throughtout 90% of that game... OK, but I'll go no lower than 75%! Best I've seen our men play against an opposition since... well, I dunno when! Had our finishing not been so in need of a little polishing - AND, had their keeper not been such an absolute demon - we could have had ten goals. Alright, but I'll settle for no less than five!
I'd advise all those fans, who've (understandably) dropped off after our recent performances, to get right back on board; as this game was a showing of the new 'SALFORD-SUPERCHARGED,' that you won't wanna miss out on. Yeah a bit hyperbolic (but, hopefully entertaining) from me. But I'm not that long back from a bloody good game; so I'm still stunned from the performance that I witnessed our team putting in. And - If they can deliver something near that every week - we WILL be going inexorably up the league. And NO mistake!
"And here's to you, Mr Robinson..."
