Karl or Carl? One's an experienced manager the other is Wayne Rooney's mate. I know who I'd prefer

Karl or Carl? One's an experienced manager the other is Wayne Rooney's mate. I know who I'd prefer I've seen both Karl and Carl mentioned. I think half of the "sources" from these writers are articles they read on other sites. I'm not sure the writers realize they are 2 different people. As I've mentioned before I think it's more important we appoint a manager and not another head coach

Cowley’s going to Colchester is a surprise. the72.co.uk/2024/01/04/colchester-united-to-turn-to-former-lincoln-city-and-portsmouth-boss-reporter-claims/Karl Robinson did a great job blooding the academy lads at AFCW and historically. He gave Dele Alli a go when he was at MK Dons also, good contacts around the EFL, was with Big Sam at Leeds with Robbie Keane as an assistant. Carl Robinson who was Rooney’s number 2 at Birmingham has been a manager with the Canadian MLS sides. I would rather someone who has a bit more knowledge of the EFL currently, and has a more attack minded approach. Looks like the owners want to get a deal done before FGR with an aim of starting work Monday.

Karl with a ‘K’ is the bookies favourite. On Bet Victor, Carl with a ‘C’ doesn’t appear in the betting.

The bookies are no longer taking bets on Karl with a 'K'.

Dear god…….head coach. 🙄
A clear indication that our owners are so thick they still can’t see where the problem lies.
That said, if he fails it will be HIS fault. He will have been under no doubt of their expectations of him. So if he accepts the role, he can’t complain if the players he gets are duds.
He might be a great bloke, and he could be a great manager, but we’re not employing him to do that, so I remain unimpressed.

Great hire - I think his personality will actually help not just with the players but even those in and around the club. CO92 need to not get in the way now, we need bodies and I fancy he will have made calls already. If your Dackers, N’Mai, Berkoe, Humbles, Luamba you must be thinking ‘I am getting game time now’ - he kick started Dele Ali’s career at MK Dons and I think he will do well. Similar feeling to what I had about Alexander when he arrived personally.

Like Chris I'd have been a lot happier if he'd been appointed as manager rather than a head coach. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when it came to discussing his role and areas of decision making with the owners but either way I'll give him every chance to see what he can do but can we seriously expect him to turn a team that's deficient in so many areas into resounding winners tomorrow? We've basically got the leagues two worst teams (on present form) going head to head so I'm expecting a scrappy 1-0 win at best! If his squad isn't improved in the January transfer window with a least a couple of additions then its going to take all his experience and know how to get us moving up the table and to instill some confidence into the squad.I notice in the club announcement regarding his appointment that there is no mention on the length of his contract so I presume it's a case if you keep us up you've got a job next season. Here's to you Karl Robinson .............

That could be code for saying we'll still keep him if we go down, I don't know. But it could mean he's got a lengthy contract. I hope it goes well for all our sakes.

Any enthusiasm I would have had was killed the moment I read head coach. I wish him the best of luck. In the past he has run an aggressive 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 which would be a positive upgrade from our pass around the back, possession above all else, under Wood. Still I worry about our recruitment team as there seems to be no change in who is responsible there. I also believe that the owners "helping" at training sessions strips a head coach of any authority in the locker room.
Best of luck Karl! You're going to need it!

Agreed, but I think they probably only show up for the cameras.
