This weekend sees us take on high flying Mansfield Town who are presently one point outside the automatic promotion places and who remain undefeated in the league after 15 games. Eight draws (four at home and four away) has held them back from comfortably occupying a top three place and they have by far the meanest defence in the division having conceded just 12 times. We did an impressive double over them last season winning 2-0 at home in the opening game of the season followed by a sensational 5-2 demolition at Field Mill in what were undoubtedly two of our stand out performances of the last campaign. Let's hope we make continue that run this weekend. I'll see you there.

Hopefully get a win to cheer us a little.

We have a decent record against Mansfield so hopefully we can get the win. Their undefeated run has to end some time so why not on Saturday? They'll be wary of us after we demolished them last time we played them so we've every right to feel confident.

We're getting dangerously close to a fully fit squad with, unless I'm mistaken, only Hendry and Ashley out. I'm most interested in who Wood picks and what formation he choses. A 5-3-1-1, 5-3-2, 5-2-3? A backline of John-Tilt-Mariappa-Vassell-Ingram or do Garbutt and Shep find a way into the team? A midfield surely starts with Watt but is it a 2 or 3? Who gets left out from Watson/Mallan/Lund? With Smith leading the league in goals Wood would be hard pressed to drop Smith even though Wood is clearly not a fan of that style #9. That leaves 1 or 2 forward postions for Bolton/McAleny/N'Mai and eventually Hendry.

In fact, I’d go so far as to say Watson is the new Smith. Out of favour and only played when he has to. In short, we have a wealth of talent to choose from, so there can be no excuses.

Didn't Bolton miss the game last week? But yes we have almost a full squad so no real excuse for not kicking on now

And the weather forecast for the game is: sun, no rain, no wind... and I'm looking to an end to Mansfield's run of fifteen league games unbeaten.

Confirmed Ashley, Hendry, Bolton, Berkoe out for tomorrow. We should still have a strong line up capable of winning. Until Tangerine's comment I didn't realize that Mansfield were on an invincible season but with more draws than wins. Looking at their fixtures it appears they are as likely to put up 4 as to draw 1-1. I'll go somewhere in between
3-2 Ammies win

I was thinking the same thing the other day. A heart condition isn't likely just to clear up on its own and his long term health is clearly the priority. I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually hear he's had to call it a day. Hope not of course but football isn't worth the risk.

Big ask tomorrow against a side unbeaten in 15. That said players returning and getting up to speed should give the head coach options.
Although in other news see the AJ Bell fiasco is biting Salford Red Devils. Wonder when this will find its way to our owners door to fill gap left behind by Salford Red Devils when they are turfed out and shafted by the RFL.

If it did come back to the owners doorstep I’d expect we play hardball and not place the same offer as we did at the beginning.

Interesting enough, most of the fans on the Mansfield website are suggestion a tough game, where most are suggesting they would take a draw, with many predicting a loss.
