They'll have had a few harsh words directed at them following their 3-0 defeat at Harrogate Town and looking at their fans forum it seems that most of their fans are expecting them to lose tomorrow. As we know of course one game doesn't make a season and I'm pretty certain that last weeks results will be firmly put to the back of everyones minds and they'll be afforded the utmost respect. Will be interesting to see if NW adopts the same tactics and style of play that we saw last weekend. COYA!

Followed the game on BBC live text and read like Swindon tried to kick us off the park first half. Looked numbers wise like we did everything but score 2nd half so I’ll reserve judgement til I have seen some footage.
Little treat in the Malaysian energy drinks cup Tuesday against Bolton - we go again COYA!

Little treat in the Malaysian energy drinks cup Tuesday against Bolton - we go again COYA! I watched it. I would have taken a point before the game, but after bossing the first half and them going down to ten men, I’m disappointed. Yes, it can be difficult to beat 10 men if they get behind the ball…..but they didn’t. They attacked as tough WE were down to 10 men. I’ll post my thoughts on the game and players later. Bit in more positive news……Stockport lost again. 😂😂😂

Two games into the season and a home win and an away draw against two of last seasons play off contenders, coupled with two clean sheets, ain't that bad a start. Although to be fair there was a feeling of general frustration at the final whistle today that we hadn't turned over a poor Swindon Town side even when that horrible little gobshite McKirdy was still on the pitch. We created twice as many chances as them but just couldn't find a way past their keeper who made three great saves and a packed defence who defended deeper as the game went on and looked to catch us on the break. McAleny and BTA both failed to convert decent chances either side of the break and we had numerous other opportunities but just couldn't find the killer touch. Good to see a firm referee dealing with a side who if they couldn't beat us football wise resorted to constant fouling and rolling around on the floor with McKirdy deservedly getting his marching orders for his usual shithousery. On the whole we played some decent stuff, got into some good positions but equally so when they were down to 10 men we didn't exploit our one man advantage nearly enough. Had we scored one goal I'm confident we would have gone on to comfortably win the game. Unfortunately that didn't turn out to be the case but it's nevertheless an encouraging start to the season.

Yesterday was another good result looking at the ‘highlights’ and bits online. The comments from Swindon fans is very much that, Scott Lindsay ran out of glitter polishing those turds of a performance to kick this season off. Once you cut through the spin you can see that he knows they were rather fortunate not to get beat yesterday.
He did comment that he found it difficult as we rotated formation and loaded the middle of the pitch. I think NW tactically is being bold and I like that. Especially when you’re starting a season against sides that have been up in the playoff mix last season. Patience is key for us as supporters because to me this is very different to the pragmatic stuff we have been used to.
Noticed no Lund, No Mallan today on the bench which must be a worry. Seen a few comments about depth in the squad previously and I think centre mid needs one more first team/rotation option in the squad - personally looking at Stephen Kelly situation at Rangers I would make that call ASAP. BTA and Hendry’s ruthlessness in front of goal will come as they get used to each other, they are taking snatchy shots in front of goal or when they are around the box when they could play it into the other. But this will come - 4 Points, 2 clean sheets, Bolton will be fun and then back into Crewe at Moor Lane for another tester UTA!

I hope Mallon is not another Willock!

Being optimistic Mallan missed a lot of football last season so may not be up to full fitness. More likely he's injured but given the lack of information from the club who knows. We should really have won yesterday, poor finishing isn't a new thing for us. I hope it doesn't cost us too many points

I'm sure that all of us watching there yesterday assumed that with McKirdy gone we were pretty much gonna pick 'em off at will in the second half. Obviously we (and our team?) underestimated the amount of resolve that was still gonna be needed. However... on that long coach ride home I didn't detect any Salford fans who were honestly feeling that we'd been that robbed! However, If we'd have come away from that match with less than one point though...... (very angry face).

He said he'd picked up a little injury in training and that it wasn't as bad as it looked with him expecting to be back within 2 to 3 weeks tops.

As the game wore on in the second half, and although we pressed forward in numbers, the overall pattern of play changed with the introduction of Smith with the emphasis being to find his head and a decisive knock on. Didn't quite work out that way as although he did win a number of aerial battles there was precious little opportunity to capitalise. Don't like criticising individuals but Ibou Touray frustrated me by either stopping or going backwards when the opportunity presented itself to go forward and the general quality of his crosses was bloody awful.

Touray’s crossing and corners were awful. How many seasons do we let him take corners and not beat the first defender. And ghat arm in the air. The same arm…..no matter where the corner goes. I think he learned that as a kid and now just does it out of habit.

Swindon lost 3-0 last week and in some respects that was unfortunate for us as they gave a reaction to that 3-0 defeat. They were aggressive, with 3 yellow cards in the first 20 or so minutes and a 4th yellow card around 36 minutes. Eventually, a player got sent off just before half time with a second yellow. It is credit to the Salford players that they were not reacting.
Whilst sometimes teams with 10 men sit back and defend and are hard to break down, that wasn’t the case for Swindon who in the second half went out on the attack. Again, our second half performance was not the same as our first.
There was some good link-up play between the front three; BTA, Henry and McAleny. For example, around 26 minutes, there was a good link up between all three strikers, it’s just unfortunate it ended up in a missed shot for McAleny.
Bolton did some good runs. Narty seems to grow in with each game and there seems to be a good understanding between him and Vassal at the back. It is also worth noting that they were both getting up and pushing up.
Watts was struggling at times and on one particular occasion lost the ball which gave Swindon a chance.
Comparing like with like, to a year ago, that team of one years ago was much more unsettled, weaker, less drilled at this stage of the season. At the start of last season, it seemed Salford were getting one chance of scoring every game. Those days are hopefully over, and judging by last couple of games multiple chances are being created.
It never was going to be an easy game. Swindon Town are a strong team, play-offs last season. Whilst the result wasn’t a win it wasn’t a disaster as well. However, this early on the season its always difficult to properly judge.
