Our first weekend away trip of the season and one which I'm naturally looking forward to. Both sides have recorded just one win each in five previous league fixtures and will both be fancying their chances of taking all three points as well as alleviating a any pressure that might be felt at this early stage of the season by their respective managers. If we can continue in the same vein as we have been doing with the addition of some improved finishing skills then I'm pretty confident of coming away from Cumbria with all three points. COYA.

I'm off to sunny Cornwall, so won't be able to watch it, but I'm fully expecting a win this weekend. We are improving with every game and I think we'll keep improving. Ok, in midweek we suffered from the same 'can't score for toffee' problems as we did early in the league. But our first team have cracked it.

Apparently a load of Newport players have gone down with Covid after playing us. According to their manager that's why they lost against us as they were all brewing it. Not sure I entirely believe him but let's see how we go tomorrow before thinking we've turned a corner. I'd be happy with any kind of win as we don't want to be left behind this soon in the season

I know I took his comments with a large dose of salt but we should be full of confidence after last week. I see Tom King and Ty Wright are away on international duty so Zach Jeacock will get his first league outing for us tomorrow. I presume Asante will come in on the right but Hunter is fit again and Burgess didn't play midweek so should be rested. We've now got some competition for places across the squad which is good. Other than that I'm guessing same team as last week.

Well that wasn't in the script. I didn't see the game but the BBC report suggests we should have had at least a point with better finishing which sounds familiar. Will be interested to read how we played from someone who watched the match. We need some wins and soon as we're in danger of getting detached from the pace setters. Bradford next week won't be easy either.

Bitterly disappointed in a game where we created a decent amount of first half chances which we completely fluffed, let them score with their first sight on goal, finally got our act together with an equaliser a minute before the break and then proceeded to put on a shocking second half performance that veered on the embarrassing at times. Let's be honest we never looked like scoring another goal if we'd played till midnight such was the ineffectiveness of our attacking threat. Yet again we dominated the possession statistics but only because we passed backwards, sideways, forwards, backwards and sideways again without actually gaining any ground or initiative. Players were constantly running down blind alleys, passing to marked team mates, lumping it forward aimlessly. It really was poor in every respect. We lacked coherent movement, incisiveness, vision, inventiveness and the basic ability to pass to someone in space who could in turn create something of note. No disrespect to our opponents but they were hardly any great shakes either whose main tactic was standing on the ball and preventing us from taking free kicks quickly which fortunately the referee put a reasonably quick stop to. We really need everyone to up their game this coming weekend in terms of energy and creativeness because if we repeat the style and pattern of play that we saw today then we'll be looking at a very low league placing come the end of the season.

First half should really have had at least couple of goals. Lund had a point blank header saved (should have scored) and got into some really good position remembering the one Asante took off Lowe's boot then spewed it wide! We got what we deserved yet again unfortunately for not finishing but also the goals we conceded were really poor.Asante and Touray failed to pick up a guy for the first and the second really should have been saved by the keeper who simply stood on his line instead of going for the damn ball? Second half was poor and pretty toothless going forward and just resorted to hoofing it forward in hope. Player wise Jeacock had little to do other than the odd routine save and picking the ball out of his own net twice(definitely not a commanding presence today), not sure about Turnbull partnering Ndaba in the middle at the back as they're both left footed and Turnbull had to keep getting onto his left which is ridiculous really and will be interesting to see who drops out when Eastham is back? Other than the blatantly missed opportunity, Lund was ok in the middle with Lowe. Asante proved why he is normally a sub and quite rightly, McAleny was very quiet and Hunter spent more time on the floor than on his feet once he took over from Asante. Elliot's height made no difference when he came on either albeit he had a chance near the end to salvage a point. Most will say a draw would have been a fairer result but the reality is that if you don't put your chances away (especially the one's which really should be scored) then you'll sometimes come away with nothing as we have done a few times already!

well after another pathetic performance against a very average team i can only see one outcome. back to the national league. yet again we think passing about sideways and backwards can win us games. we constantly make the wrong decisions in the game. give the ball away cheaply time and time again. the manager seems to think theres not much wrong. the man needs to give his head a wobble.

Didn’t see the game, but I would say that Touray has had a poor start to the season. Not the commanding player he’s been for us so far and from reading the above, it seems like he was at fault again. But his first few games have been littered with poor positioning and equally poor passing.
Asante isn’t a league 2 player. They let him take free kicks when he’s on and he constantly balloons them high and wide. He spends too much time on the ground or standing on the ball waiting for a defender to foul him.
On early form, Ndaba should be the first name on the team sheet, so I expect either Turnbull or Eastham will be dropped?
I think we have far too many providers in the team and not enough who can deliver. Nobody wants to take a shot. Nobody wants to have a pop. I saw the score early in the second half when it was 1-0 and remarked as I do every game. That word must be out by now that all you have to do against Salford is get the ball on target. Do that and you’ll likely score. We won 3-0 last week and had less possession than Newport. Yet another key stat for Salford is that if we have high possession, we’ll likely lose the game. High possession means we’ve run out of ideas and we’re passing it back and sidewards. I’m sick of seeing the keeper playing the ball out quickly, we race into the opponents half, stop, and pass it back. Giving our record on doing this, I’d rather it be lumped into the box once or twice to test the defence and keeper.
I’m not jumping onto the ‘sack the manager’ bandwagon. Our recent history has proved it makes little difference who the manager is. The balance of the team is wrong. Hendo scored the same as Doyle at Bolton last season, but I think a lot of them were scored late in the season. We don’t have a single dedicated goal scorer in the team. Someone who could put those early chances away and put us in control by half time. Does Caspar still have a big say in who we sign? I’m not sure what the immediate answer is, but we need that answer soon!

I'd be tempted to drop Touray and try Turnbull at LB. We've not had any competition in that position for years so no wonder he's maybe getting complacent. Also the 4231 doesn't seem to work as we're lacking up front. I've said it before but 442 or 433 would be better at getting us more firepower up front.
