Our first pre season friendly for 2021/22 has been announced. We're visiting Atherton Collieries on 10.7.21 with a 3pm KO. Assuming that we're allowed to attend games by then that will be the first live game watching the Ammies since March 2020. Fingers crossed it comes off for us, a nice Saturday afternoon of football and a beer or two sounds grand 😀

Funnily enough myself and alanb were discussing Atherton Collieries and Atherton LR last weekend at Whalley Range AFC and I said that it's never been a place that has particularly appealed to me and as I've already been there a few times with Salford I expressed a wish (extremely unlikely) that we could play Atherton Town for a change! Nevertheless it's a game and as chipbarm says hopefully one that we can attend 'normally' - whatever normal is these days.

Happy days if we’re allowed in. Looks as if it might be all ticket which will very possibly mean limited availability unlike back in 2019 when it was pay on the gate.

Mind you, we might get slaughtered.

Mind you, we might get slaughtered. We did actually play a pre season friendly at Whalley Range prior to the start of the 2011-12 season and ended up winning 6-3. I remember present Whalley Range manager Rob Kinsella and striker Danny Heffernan both making impressive performances for them so much so that they were duly signed up and went on to become firm favourites at Moor Lane. You're right though. It would be good to see a Salford City XI team play Whalley again at their place.
