In my mind there is no doubt that 'Funhouse' by The Stooges is the greatest album of all time. I bought the LP back in 1973 and still play it to this day the as well as the CD at full volume in my car when I'm needing to let off steam! Just wish this recording had been louder as it needs to be played at max volume. What do you consider as the best LP of all time? I'd really be interested to know.
Fronted by the legendary Iggy Pop - then known as Iggy Stooge - this was their second LP that was released in 1970. Iggy is currently the only living member of the original Stooges line up which is a miracle in itself given his past lifestyle. The LP is a mix of brutal but beautiful riffing and cacophonous jazz workouts, superbly produced and an incredible assault on the senses. The Stooges would never be as good again but their debut produced album by John Cale of the Velvet Underground as well as the 1973 David Bowie produced 'Raw Power' LP are also totally indespensible.
