There's really not much one can add to GA's post match assessment of the game where he rightly states that we should have comfortably won. On the plus side we've still only been beaten once in seven league games but there's no doubt that if you miss two penalty kicks in a game then you really only have yourselves to blame. A great low driven opener from Danny Lloyd gave us a perfect early start in a first half where we played some of the best football I've seen us play all season which would have got even better if Lloyds' penalty kick had gone in instead of crashing against the crossbar. It was still nevertheless an excellent opening 45 minutes which quickly turned sour within five minutes of the re-start as we fell asleep and gifted Morecambe two goals. The home side then enjoyed a period of decent possession as we appeared to vacate the midfield area for them before finally restoring parity through Danny LLoyd whose free kick was dropped by the keeper over the line. With the momentum then with us a blatant push as you're ever likely to see in the back on Danny LLoyd on 84 minutes gave us the perfect opportunity to seal a second win of the season until Roche in the home goal dived low and right to divert Richie Towells' resulting spot kick round the post to complete a frustrating afternoon for Salford and their travelling 676 fans who gave excellent vocal support from start to finish. While hugely disappointing not to win the overall performance was hugely encouraging given we gave league debuts to Kyle Letheren in goal, Dan Jones, Jack Baldwin and Jake Jervis who all slotted in comfortably. Surely it won't be too long before we secure that second league victory.

We deserved to win today. Totally in control in the first half, but a catastrophic 10 minutes at the start of the second half, when we made them look like Brazil.
Can I just say that it’s great to be able to discuss the game. Those on Facebook will know what I mean.

When will we convert a good performance into a win on the road ? That’s five draws on the bounce and three 2-2 draws away from home ! I said on the coach that if we go for a record number of draws, another 39, will get us 47 points and another season in the EFL ! Another strange team selection with Chris Neal missing and Ibou Touray away on international duty giving first league starts for Kyle Letheren, Jack Baldwin, Dan Jones and Jake Jervis ! Whatever the team selection was, it was a very promising performance by the side, with Richie Towell coolly slotted home the opener to put us 1-0 up but a penalty chance to go 2-0 up was missed by Danny Lloyd slamming the bar with his spot kick ! With the number of chances we had we should of been comfortable up by 2-3 goals ! 1-0 seems to always be a dodgy score for us and so it proved in the opening 5-10 minutes of the 2nd half, where was the defending, as we allowed Morecombe to score two goals from nowhere ! We eventually got back into the match as Danny Lloyd scored a fluky goal from a free kick with the keeper flapping the ball into the net ! He seemed to blame it on the blazing sun shine ? Wear a hat then keeper whom restored his composure when he saved a match winning penalty for Salford in the dying minutes resulting in another frustrating draw ! Don’t get me started on the taking of the 2nd penalty, you don’t change the designated penalty taker, we should be winning these games with the number of goal attempts plus two missed penalties but hopefully things will turn round with the next two games at home !

Well, one thing's for sure, watching Salford play is certainly far from boring nowadays. I noted that The League Paper today gave our Morecambe encounter maximum stars for entertainment. And what a great atmosphere in the away end yesterday... generated by what must be a record number of Ammies' travelling support for a Salford league game.
Just one missed-penalty short of it being a perfect day.

Yeah, I think that we may be talking at slightly crossed-purposes here though, guys. 646 IS the established number of Salford supporters at Morecambe last Saturday; but is that a record number for Salford fans at an away league game? I think that it is. TD suspects that it is. WSM thinks that that number of travelling Ammies may have been surpassed at an FC United game. Well, we've played FC United twice in the league (National League North) at Broadhurst Park: on Sat 28 Jan 2017 and Tues 26 Dec 2017. I've looked through my diaries and looked on the computer but can't find the figures for the away support at those games. I'll try and delve a little deeper in an attempt to get the final word on this, as I really would be interested to know the facts. Standing in the middle of our fans last Sat, and looking all around me, it certainly looked and felt like the biggest Salford away league crowd that I'd ever been involved in. I've got old programmes in the loft that I'll go through tomorrow; AND... Andy Giblin usually gives the breakdown of both home and away numbers - that make up the total match attendances - in his post-match reports on the SCFC website. So maybe he will be able to put us right on this one. Personally I think that last Saturday's Salford Fans' turnout was a record-breaker!
PS ... hopefully we're not going to go on and break any further records for maximum numbers of consecutive league games ending in a draw.
