Seems one our fans appeared to take exception to today's result and performance by launching a tirade at Michael Nottingham and then Jonno following the final whistle when the players and management came over to acknowledge the applause of the traveling fans. It seems then that there appeared to be a scuffle of some sort as tempers became frayed with the situation then being defused by a number of other Salford fans and officials. Now I know the supporter concerned and his commitment to the cause but I'm pretty certain that despite his opinions on our performance he'll be regretting his choice of vocabulary directed towards the team he clearly cares about. From personal experience I know that both our co-managers are very approachable - as indeed are most of the players - so if any supporters wants to air their views about anything concerning the club then they will always be afforded the time and place to do so in a sensible fashion.
There were a lot of disappointed fans there today given the final outcome but at the end of the day we are all there to support the club we love - irrespective of whatever the outcome. Let's not make it personal as whatever anyone may think I'm pretty certain that the players will take the result to heart just as much as we supporters do. It may not appear that way to some but they have their personal pride. There's a time and place to air ones views but hurling insults immediately after the final whistle definitely isn't the most constructive thing to do - irrespective of how one may feel in the heat of the moment.

What language did I use rick?
I told Nottingham that he knew some efforts weren't good enough... he agreed with me. Jonno said he also agreed with me but felt a lot of the lads showed heart. I didn't disagree with that. Jonno tweeted me after the game saying I was fantastic like every fan so not sure where your getting this drama from.

No drama but there are ways and means of voicing ones disapproval and given my track record regarding some of the comments I've made to referee's at the conclusion of some of our games I know how easy it is to get caught up in the heat of the moment! Given as you say that Notts and Jonno both agreed with your post match opinion why is it then that the situation appeared to escalate into seemingly more than just an amiable conversation with people being pulled apart? I'm not setting myself up as judge and jury but there were a lot of fans after the game wanting to know exactly what had gone behind the goal immediately after the final whistle. If it's as you say then great, your comments were taken on board and we move on. No harm done then and I'll see you on Monday if you want to discuss it further.

The drama was caused because some random idiot thought I was giving Nottingham stick, not knowing that Nottingham always comes to away support to talk. Decided to put his arms around me and that made it look like confrontation. Got plenty of people who were there and can vouch for me.

Chris as I said I'm not setting up myself as judge and journey and if I have misinterpreted the situation then I am quite prepared to personally apologise to you when I see you at the Curzon game. Having just heard Jonno's post match interview it seems that even he was baffled by the applause we gave the team at the conclusion of the game which is quite a frank and forthright comment to make. I wonder then what his thoughts might have been if we had booed them off the pitch? Would that have been more appropriate in the circumstances? It's not something I could ever entertain or bring myself to do irrespective of the performance. Perhaps just a total silence might have been the best way of commenting on our display? Who knows??? I just hope though that we can all have something to be proud of after the Cuzon Ashton fixture on Monday!

How I heard the interview was that some of the players don't deserve to be clapped off in the way they were by 100s (maybe an exaggeration) after the way the team played/didn't win and was probably praising the support in a roundabout way!?

Me being pedantic? To quote Jonno - "I'm embarrassed for the supporters, what are they clapping us for, we didn't deserve to be clapped off." He was obviously far from happy with the team performance today but I didn't interpret his reaction to our support as being either critical or complimentary. More so baffled as to why we would applaud such a display but that's the way it's always been ever since I've supported the club with us preferring to encourage rather than criticise. We simply weren't good enough today but it certainly won't stop me from wholeheartedly backing our team any way I see fit.

No it's fine Rick, I understand what it looked like hence why I was annoyed at the individual who grabbed me. Just don't want people thinking I'm that sort of fan. We move on, see you all Monday for hopefully a far better performance.

I don't reward poor performance with applause. Yes, I'll be behind them in the next game, but rewarding them after a crap,performance...nah. It appears that Jonno agrees so that's good enough for me!
