Apart from the opening 10 minutes and probably the last fifteen - where we created more chances than in the previous 75 minutes - today was another afternoon to forget for the 60 odd Ammies fans who made the trek to Boston this afternoon and who had to endure another frustrating game which is fast becoming the norm. Yet again we had to endure an opposition team raise their game with us looking disjointed and quite frankly out of ideas as to what to do to make any sort of meaningful impression. One could blame a poor pitch - but that would be too easy - as well as referee who relished the opportunity at brandishing cards at Salford players - although the stupid actions of Brad Barnes who received a red card admittedly left him with little option and whose dismissal effectively sealed our fate midway in the first half. All credit to Boston who looked far more mobile and threatening with their front men looking lively although I thought their opener after 12 minutes looked as is if there was a hint of hand ball and off side about it. Their second some 10 minutes from the end reminded me of Tamworth's second a few weeks ago where a forward had a free unopposed header which gave gave Jay Lynch absolutely no chance. It was only then then that we started to look threatening but even the best efforts of new loan signing Harry Panayiotou who had a couple of very decent chances weren't good enough to overcome an enthusiastic and hard working Boston side.

Sounds dismal. But Brad Barnes must need a holiday or something, because he's been begging to be sent off for a few games now.

He's not been at his best for a while plus had a run in with some Salford fans in the new Moor Lane stand against Stockport when at 1-0 down one of our fans had the downright cheek to shout "get a move on" to Brad who didn't take kindly to it, apparently "offered out" a couple for outside for after the game. Odd times at the moment but this slump in form is our 2nd of the season and hopefully we can get back to winning ways on Saturday v Alty,

He's a very good player and a very likeable lad to boot but if he's a liability on the pitch (Harrogate and Boston) and one of it ( abusing fans) it needs nipping in the bud immediately!

Just watched the game 'highlights' 😞
Shocking challenge from Barnes to be sent off and surprised it wasn't a straight red. Even then, he was mouthing off as he left. I presumed that altercation with the fans at Moor Lane was with away fans. Not sure why he got involved with home fans and surprised our own fans are having a pop at him. Although they may have just asked him to hurry up.
Whilst I'm on the subject of match highlights. Soft first goal to give away. That habit of defenders stopping in their tracks and holding their arms up to claim offside, needs to stop. Not sure we'd have saved the goal in this case, but it's a dangerous tactic.
As for the second goal, was our defence drinking cocktails by a pool in Acapulco, resting after a hard fought and successful season? They may well have been. I'm not sure if players are just getting tired and that's the reason for them switching off at key times, but it's all or nothing from now on. They have to sort these issues out!

The altercation was with home fans all they wanted was for him to show a bit of urgency in getting the ball back in play, we were 1-0 down and Stockport were wasting enough time for a couple of matches, he reacted in a totally inappropriate way
