So.... something that seemed quite clear to me yesterday was the lack of depth in the CF role. I'm probably going to be shot down here, but Here's the reasons:
Josh Hine - Hasn't really done the business so far, and to be honest without sounding too harsh the only reason why he's playing is for his long throws.
Pooley - His best role is playing just behind the leading forward, great player but isn't a CF.
Jordan Hulme - Best playing in wide positions, getting into the flanks for support.
Sam Livesey - Came through the youth, but isn't going to get a first team opportunity.
Richie Allen - Again best driving in from wide positions.
MIKE PHENIX - The only CF we have in my opinion.
What's peoples thoughts on this?

I'd largely agree. Without trying to sound too harsh, I think we're lucky that we have defenders who can score goals.
Mostly, the managers prefer to play a system with only one out-and-out centre forward anyway: Phenix. I like Pheno, but if an opposition centre half gets the measure of him, or if the two centre halves mark him out of the game, or if he's forced into wide positions, then we struggle to get the best out of him. I personally think he needs some support. It doesn't always come from the midfield, either. That's noticeable when crosses go into the box from open play and nobody gets near the ball.
Hulme and Allen are more wingers/wide forwards and generally do well in that position. Pooley is probably best playing just behind, but he's been out of the side a lot with injury. Hine can play well in a wide role in addition to his dead-balls specialties, but he isn't prolific enough up top. Is Livesey still at the club?? I don't think he was good enough when he played last season in the division below.
Nevertheless, we've been at the top end of the league all season and still sit in a good position despite playing poorly in nearly every game since we beat Fylde.

It's hard, the formation we've played so far has worked a treat with Pheno leading on his own, and I'd rather have goals spread out through the team rather than one player I.E. Danny Rowe at Fylde, but if Pheno was to get injured or we need to change formations with 2 up at the top, I think it leaves us very light on options.

Lets all see when we get Danny LLoyd next season We are the third top scorers in the league with the second best defensive record. That tells you the 'balance' to the side is almost perfect! We have a team that scores from nearly every position on the pitch which obviously takes the load off our 'main' centre forward! If we had a forward who'd scored 25-30 but we weren't contributing elsewhere in the team and that player got injured we'd have a monumental problem!

i think the problem isnt up front but in midfield... You cant play George & Nick in the same team, there is clearly a lack of balance IMO. The ball is either Hoofed up top or they over play it in midfield trying too hard to prove their worth. Just my take on it.

Though we all agree that all the lads are doing very well this season, the club obviously feel that we might be a bit light up front, too. Evidence of this is the signing of the lad from Barrow.
