After reading what TD had to say about the quietness of this forum I thought I'd come up with a thread to start conversation.
It would appear that the managers (along with a couple of the owners) have been linked to the vacant Bury job. My personal view is that it is too soon for them to be even thinking about that level of football yet but also from the clubs perspective we should be tying them down for the short AND long term to warn off any other suitors. I think it was last season when they were also linked to the Chester job as well. From what I have read on Darlos forum Martin Gray has signed a 5 (FIVE) year deal to stay with them which shows how ambitious and how much belief they have in him as manager.
Thoughts?

I'd say that the general feeling is that fans want the managers to stay. I concur with that thought. I get the impression that the owners would like to progress as far as they can with those two at the helm rather than chopping and changing unnecessarily. However, I'm not in the 'know', so to speak.
I don't know what their contracts situation is and whether the club would intend on offering them anything medium or long term. I suppose it might be relative to the type of contracts (length more so than amount) that they give players.
B&J have expressed a desire to work in management full time, so in the same vein of Gary Neville taking the Valencia job, however ill-advised that decision was, they might feel that they owe it to themselves to give it a shot if offered the opportunity. They might reason that further opportunities are never guaranteed, so have a crack while the chance is there. Again, I'd like to see them continue on with the job at Salford. The club will only grow and progress, so they might ultimately achieve their goals where they are now. But what do I know?

We will prob go fulltime ourselves next season imo and given the new ground development it wont be long before we attract larger crowds than Bury the only attraction at the min i can see is its Anthony's boyhood club and both lads played for Bury as kids other than that i cant see the attraction. And given the connection the nevilles have with Bury i cant see em stitching their own club up and letting bury approach them but that brings us to their current contracts if they are on week by week then they can talk to who they like but id like to think the club are bigger than that and have given them concrete contracts to match their commitment and achievements thus far

I think we'll be full time soon enough, whether we get promoted this season or not. If they were to be offered a league job, they might be crazy not to take it. These chances don't come by that often and at this level, they should consider cashing-in whilst they can. If things at Salford turn sour, then Bury won't want them anymore.
I don't know what deal they are currently on, but after two promotions and doing well in this league, they deserve to be rewarded with some kind of stability if not money. They are at the heart of what we've achieved over the last couple of seasons, and the club should do everything they can, within reason, to keep them. We still need to stay within our budget.
They have spent wisely and I love their philosophy and how they want their team to play. Let's hope the Bury story is just that, and we keep them here to carry on the good work.

I've read some rubbish in my time but some of the speculation on here is top of that list, at first I thought it was a fishing expedition but now I'm not so sure.
Anyone who thinks a LEAGUE 1 club would take any kind of chance on Bern and Jonno is seriously deluded, good as the lads are they are still learning their craft and will continue to do so with ourselves but make no mistake IF things don't come together as the owners want, probably promotion next season as a requirement and IF it doesn't look like it's happening 2017-2018 season after maybe 12 games the owners WILL make a change, think back to Phil Power and although they were reluctant to get rid they made the hard choice, it was the right one as history has proved.
On the question of us going full time in my opinion that again is something for WHEN we get promotion which I expect next season 2017-2018.
PS All this forum activity will cheer TD up, he's got something to read now!

Any thought of losing J&B now makes me feel sick. I can see an affinity with Bury but our future growth at Moor Lane is potentially legendary. Hope Co92 do whatever it takes to keep this show on the road.

Agreed to a point local, although I wouldn't call it deluded that a small club punching above its weight with very low crowds, struggling in League One would be interested in the beat local managers around!? But for me it isn't just about Bury, it's more of a point that if you were to marry their CVs against any other managers in non-league especially in the North West then nobody comes close! If the owners really believe how good they are then prove it by making it long therm (as Darlo have) and commit to the young men. If they have a seed of doubt then I'd assume they'll carry on game to game, week to week, season to season. I've always felt there's been a bit of a 'well we can have what we want' feeling around the club. I'm Not particularly saying that's a bad thing but I don't think you'll get the best of anything if it's always going to be a short term strategy.

An excellent article/interview in the match programme against Worcester City which celebrated Bern and Jonno's 100th competitive game in charge. Given some of the above comments as well as just one or two things I'm picking up on myself I think it is fairly certain that we will go full time next season. Turning professional would certainly have a huge impact on players and indeed management alike with the obvious thought being that some just wouldn't want to take such a huge step/gamble for a variety of reasons - and some patently obvious ones - as we've seen with other clubs in our league who have taken this very big step. However, it was interesting to read the comments of both Bernard and Jonno where both alluded directly to going pro with AJ saying "but we'll keep working until that opportunity comes to go full time, and when that comes we'll knuckle down and really work" with BM then stating "I'm not saying it's easy, but we'd relish the opportunity of going full time and really work on getting out of that next league (National League)". Those two statements give the strongest indication possible that both our co-managers would be more than willing to commit themselves to any potential full time set up in the future!
