At the end of the day the most important outcome of the game was that we progressed through to the next round with the performance somewhat secondary to the result. While early chances to put the game beyond a limited but enthusiastic Bradford side were spurned it has to be said that an albeit vastly changed side did make hard work of it despite finding a further number of opportunities to press home their advantage before James Poole's excellent strike finally inspired his team mates and the traveling sun soaked supporters.
While the result was of paramount importance it doesn't disguise the fact that some decent approach work was let down by either a poor final touch, crosses that failed to find a target and a seeming lack of authority in the oppositions 18 yard box. Perhaps the large number of team changes - coupled with the enforced ones during the game - together with the baking heat were all contributory factors to a contest that threatened to fizzle out with an unwanted replay on the horizon. Fortunately an excellent piece of individual finishing spared us all that prospect but we certainly will need to be much sharper and incisive - particularly upfront - when we return to league action against Brackley Town this coming Saturday.
