As far as I am aware, Salford is the second largest City in England never to have had a football league side, the first being Wakefield. As you say, it is criminal but hopefully soon this will change! :-) Wakefield is bigger than Salford.....bl00dy hell never knew that?!😮 Having just checked Wiki it looks like it's almost 50% bigger as well. Cracking quiz question that, which I reckon 99.99% of the population would never guess. Dudley is also almost 50% bigger. Conversely I'd have thought Wakefield was definitely bigger than Salford.

I genuinely thought the people of Salford always saw United as their own, something to do with finishing at the docks on Saturday lunch and going straight to Old Trafford, I know strictly speaking they're not a Salford club and now they're pretty much a world club but historically speaking I always thought of Salford as being the home of United's hardcore support. I would say that traditionally, there are more Man U fans west of Manchester than east. East being mainly Man City. But that's just a guestimation. I'm from Salford and followed Bolton, not Man U. So I think there is plenty of support in Salford for Man U, but far from being exclusively Man U. I think Man Us core support comes from London and Ireland. 😀I got a flight from Manchester after a game once and the terminal was rammed with Irish fans waiting for their flights back home. Behave yourself Chris.... you're starting to sound like a Citeh fan!☺ Salford has always been massively Red and still is. I remember in school possibly half a dozen City fans in my year. Now that's changed over the past few years for obvious reasons with City's band wagoners and a few more of their lapsed supporters coming out of the woodwork to support a more successful team but the split in Salford is still massively in Utd's favour. East Manchester is different, a lot more berties over there as there are in Stockport. My dad taught in Ashton years back and he thought the split was just in City's favour. Chris - what you gonna do in a couple of seasons when Salford are playing Bolton in League 2? Split loyalties?😂

Maybe just my ignorance tbh, as (having never actually been) I thought Wakefield was just a part of the overspill of Leeds and was more of a town than a city similar to the likes of Halifax. Oh and Dudley is a town by all acounts so technically not a bigger city than Salford.😋

I hope Bolton win every game they ever play......until we play them one day.

Am I allowed to abstain from this one?☺ I think I'll sit on the fence and say I'd just be extremely proud to see the team I've supported since a little boy (Utd) play the team I played for and now have a season ticket for lock horns (Salford). It's win/win for me as I have an emotional attachment to both clubs.
I'd much rather see Salford play City and give them a pasting tho... (we can all dream can't we?☺)

Oldham born and bred - far too many glory hunters supporting City and United (largely in vain in those days ), and even Leeds when I was a kid. In the area I lived (Failsworh/Hollinwood) there seemed to be more City. If Oldham Athletic come to Moor Lane I can guarantee I'll pin up the team-sheet in the clubhouse then don my blue and white and dive in with the away fans!!

I'm sure having read that a few of us will happily give you a friendly "assist" into the away end.😂 Only a sadist would support Oldham and Salford, though you probably jumped on the bandwagon in the early 90's when they actually had a half decent team.😉 Think I remember playing against Frankie Bunn at Moor Lane in the mid 90's when he finished his career at Radcliffe Borough and I still remember vividly him banging in those 6 goals in a league cup match back in 89. Funnily enough, I've just read that Bunn is Scholesy's favourite ever player. Gotta love Scholesy even more for that considering he's played with/against some of the greatest players of all-time!

Ho Ho - by the time we got to Wembley in 1990 I'd been going to Boundary Park for a dozen years at least! Many a dismal performance had been endured before we started being good...and many since we last were Great player, Bunn but my favourite was - and is - Andy Ritchie. Pure class... Don't you mean masochist, by the way?

Nothing to do with glory hunting (They were good in those days) though. My best mate was Leeds mad. He had posters on his wall....it was everywhere. Consequently, I ended up knowing more about Leeds than any other team. I ended up making trips to Elland Road when I could afford it.

I would support Salford with no hesitation.
I grew up a United fan. Every person in my bloodline that I've ever met supports/supported United. I didn't get to go to too many games as a kid in the 80s and 90s, but got to as many as I could early 2000s. I ended up in a season ticket share for two years, then had an actual season ticket 2004-06. I've even been to a few away games, including the 2004 FA Cup semi final and Mourinho's first competitive game in English football (away at Chelsea, 2004). I did miss the 2004 FA Cup final, though, as it clashed with Morrissey's first gig in the UK since 1997.
However, over the years, I became a little disillusioned with the professional game, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to renew my season ticket for 06-07. Consequently, I went to a few games at Moor Lane toward the end of the 05-06 season. It was something Percy and I had discussed doing since 2004. I was hooked and committed to home and away games from the start of the next season. They have since been my priority and United haven't entered the equation on any day that Salford have played.
I haven't turned my back on United. I still want them to win games and trophies. However, Salford have been my team for eleven years and take precedence when it comes to money, time, energy, and emotion.
I've only been to OT once in that time: Gary Neville's testimonial.

I was also disillusioned with the professional game Mozzer. Prices going up and quality going down. I have no real interest in the PL these days. A load of overpaid pansies. 😀
