Well it will be following our trip to Mansfield Town this coming Tuesday night when we will have completed our 15th game from a seasons total of 46. And if you'd said to me that we'd only be 4 points outside the play offs at this stage I'd have snatched your hand off without any hesitation which is exactly where we find ourselves at present. I don't think there's any denying that we haven't yet reached the level of consistency or produced the style of play that we'd like to see week in and week but to be within striking distance of a top seven place at this point in the season says a lot about the league itself as it does about us. The quicker we can achieve the type of performance we know we're capable of then there is everything to play for in what is an extremely competitive division.

We are where we deserve to be, as a poor side of average team in a poor league. Teams win one week and lose heavily next with almost random liklyhood, with just a few exceptions in the top four or so. No disaster, but not great either.
With a little more invention, pace and more ability up front, we would breeze this division, save for the games against Crewe, Exeter, Bradford and the likes, but we are just as poor as the rest. Orient won big this week, so will no doubt lose next, and so on... Cambridge won well this week, after being poor at ours, and so on...
We will stay up but not much more, which is fine in one way, but disappointing considering we should be taking 6pts from many in this bang average league.
We play with the fear of losing, as do quite a lot of the rest, from what I can see. Lose the fear GA, the players might go on to surprise you if we do!

Good post, L2 isn’t anything special, 4 or 5 teams apart. I genuinely think the National League had more quality and was a tougher league than this. I think we’ve been a mix of complacent, occasionally good and sometimes downright poor. A bit of consistency in style and formation and we would perform a lot better than we have so far

I agree with both of the last two posts. We are close to the play off spots, because most teams around us are just as inconsistent as us. Exeter has been flying and got spanked yesterday by a mid-table team. Saleford has also hot the nail on the head. We look like a rabbit caught in headlights. We don’t look confident when we walk out. We don’t look confident on the ball. For all the money we have spent, perhaps a few more quid on a sports psychologist would be money well spent.
I also agree on the quality of this league. Tough, yes......pacier, yes.....quality, very little. Maybe that’s harsh. Perhaps it seems that way because the teams cancel each other out. But last season was more fun and I enjoyed the games more. But it means that if we can get our house in order, we can move up the table.

I think we naturally set up in a defensive formation preferring to try and stop conceding goals rather than going all out to attack teams as I don't think we have enough quality in depth with respect to attacking options. I don't think there's any doubt that we'll see a number of wholesale changes next season as a number of our our more 'experienced' players will be moved on and we'll also look to strengthen upfront which will be all well and good providing we get the right service to whoever leads the line. Rooney hasn't been the same player since Gaffney fell out of favour and Danny Lloyd - who used to score for fun before joining us - has been asked to play wide left which has limited his goal scoring opportunities which leaves exactly who to get us the goals we quite obviously struggle to get?

We must be the only team that sees a player doing well elsewhere....signs him...and then plays him out of position. The fact that these players often go out on loan and do well, must give our management a clue?
