Not sure we were THAT good? Not much passion on show. No ideas, other than lumping the ball forwards as the game went on. We made them look much better than they were, although they are a decent team. How many times are we going to moan about players going down easily? We need to get used to it. Half our team didn't show up last night. Was Allen even on the pitch? As for the defence, I was worried every time they broke and every corner and free kick, I thought they'd score. We can't carry on like this. Every interview with the gaffers, they talk about our defence switching off. Every defence can do that, but not every game. We gave them the ball in midfield and we were under pressure every time. I'd be on my knees begging Chris Lynch to come back. We didn't need pace in that defence last night.......just someone who can organise the back four and clear an attack. Their number 4 last night, wasn't the biggest or quickest, but he mopped everything up that came into the box. I was very nervous every time a ball skipped through the box, with not one of our defenders getting on the end of it. The cup gives us a chance to get back to winning ways. It now becomes a very important game. We need to stop the rot and quickly and some of those players need to be their heads up and fight for the team.

The honeymoon period is definitely over. We're now starting to find out that this is a difficult league.
We got what we deserved last night, which is nothing. Chorley wanted it more, especially in the second half.
Still, we're only ten games into a forty-two game season, so plenty of football to be played yet.

Accepting the fact that we've only picked up one point from a possible nine in our last three games - which is obviously disappointing but not yet quite the end of the world - the most frustrating aspect over this period has been our lack of penetration up front resulting in us actually hardly being able to create anything of real note to trouble the opposition keeper. Obviously we've huffed and puffed around and inside the opposition's half and 18 yard box but how many actual full blown saves have their keepers had to make. The only time I can recall us really troubling Chorley's well drilled defence in the second half was a shot from just inside their their penalty area that appeared to have beaten their keeper but was then cleared by a last ditch blocking action. Other than that our deliberate build up rarely threatened to unlock them at the back.
By comparison their direct fast flowing counter attacks produced two goals in the opening four minutes and might well produced more as the half went on. Having survived a number of free kicks and corners - usually our Achilles heel - it was doubly disappointing that we allowed them the time and space to come at us with such devastating results. It's all very well for us to pass the ball around from side to side but I feel we need to be more incisive and to be able to speed up the pace when necessary so as not to allow our opponents the time to re-group at leisure.
We've made a great start to the season - better than anyone dared hope - but we're now starting to learn some hard lessons about the division we're in. Every side we play is desperate to beat us as is shown by the reaction to either scoring or at the final whistle and while I would never ever advocate us having to resort to either going to ground at the slightest touch or rolling around feigning injury - we certainly need to be a little more cuter when coming up against these tactics as witnessed over the last two games. With regard to referees - just don't get me started. A penalty last night after Jay Lynch clearly got to the ball before their attacker who then launched himself into the air and then Jonno being sent off after after reacting to a far more aggressive action than his response to it. The 'clown' season is well and truly upon us!
So long as we learn lessons from our set backs then hopefully we can address how and what has to be done to rectify any problem areas. In Bernard and Jonno we trust!

I'll give our lads credit for trying to scrap a point at the end even when not playing well. Now we need a good cup run.

Agreed entirely what's been said above. We hugged and puffed and to be fair but them under some pressure towards the end but we looked a little frail defensively at times. Must do better. Having said that we have lost 2 against well fancied teams by the odd goal, narrow margins but need to get back to winning ways on Saturday now!

Another game where we needed to get a result from ! I think the run of games, sat & tuesday has caught up with the lads in terms of energy and battling 11 games gone, a 1/4 of the season in 5 weeks ! We don't seem to get the possession and I think when Brad Barnes starts playing the combo of Scootty & Brad in the middle will work ! The formation of 4-2-3-1 will give us more possession and help out the defence who seem to be under much pressure ! What do you think ? Still think we can finish in top 5 ⚽️

We're in the play off positions despite the last two games. We are in a far better position than I expected. There's no crisis, but there are errors creeping in that need to be stamped out before they become habits. It's perhaps a measure of how good we've been this season, that we are down about two bad results?
But the errors we are making are the same ones over and over again. Switching off at set pieces and towards the end of the game. Reverting to lumping the ball in the air, when we have players who can play the ball on the floor. That was evident after the substitutions last night. As TD said, we can go long periods without testing the keeper once, and we have to change that. We can't walk the ball in the net at this level.
But we'll bounce back and I'm sure the gaffers will do what they have to, and make any changes they need to.

Still think we can finish in top 5 ⚽️ I think after ten games we will probably see some league formation start to emerge where we will say they will be there or there abouts they could be fighting relegation and so on.But like others have said and it is a fact, over the last three games going forwards we have not created much and that's a worry. Its allso a fact that every time the ball is lumped in our box your heart is in your mouth. It has been said by others on the forum that the gaffers will sort it out,if they don't and quickly we will be in a crisis. And personly I think a cup run is something we don't need.
