asalfordfan, I can't be bothered trying to explain every bit of minutiae of my previous post/posts. There's some misunderstanding, I feel, as you yourself claimed when a few people praised Danny Webber in the wake of one of your posts on a previous thread.
I'll just address one thing. Go back and look at my posts this season and you will see that I'm not expecting them to win every game or blow teams over. I feel that I give an honest opinion on what I see, and as I go to the games I feel I am entitled to do so. I'll repeat that this is the best season that we have ever had, and before a ball was even kicked I would have settled for a solid consolidation for our first season at this level. As it goes, they are still in with a shout at the play offs with nine games to go, which is a testament to the fact that they are moving in the right direction. You mention the Colosseum? Well, Rome wasn't built in a day. These things take time. However, as said previously, owners, managers, and players have repeatedly stated that promotion is the aim. So sometimes they are judged on the standards that they have set themselves.
With regards to personnel changes (players) next season: yes, I know that non-leagues clubs usually overhaul their squads in pre-season. I've been going long enough to notice. However, in our current circumstances we have a fair few players on contracts, so they are unlikely to go anywhere next year. I don't know exactly how many have contracts and of them how many extend beyond the summer, but that certainly will have an impact in a way that we are not used to. Now, we do have an abundance of players capable of playing in the league above, but there are also some who probably don't make the grade. If we do go up, we might need to bring eight or nine in, which is a big overhaul, whereas if we missed out this year, we are in a strong position to mount a serious challenge next year with perhaps only four or five changes. That said, we also need to change the way we approach games, whether in this league or the one above, and how we adapt tactically to our opponents on the day. My previous post specifically stated "this team playing this way" would struggle. Whatever happens, we are either celebrating a promotion or we are saying an overall well done to the lads over the course of a season. We eventually want to progress up the leagues, yes, and I'm sure we will do it and do it the right way. Would it be so terrible if we missed out this year? In my eyes, no it wouldn't.

Hard luck on Saturday, you had a couple of chances when you were on top in the first half, but your boys didn't have the fight for it in the second half. The ref made some poor decisions (both ways!) so that can't really be used as an excuse. I have read mention of the poor half of the pitch that you couldn't score on, but we managed to get two and had an obvious penalty turn away in the first minute (see video highlights) so that can't really be used as an excuse. On the subject of poor pitches it didn't seem to be a cause for complaint at your place when you won 4-0 (at least at Stormy Corner fans can walk around the pitch without the requirement for wellington boots) so let shave no complaints about poor ground either. I read in your official report that Skem were using "blatant gamesmanship" well, come on be serious! The truth of the matter is Skem had more guts and determination on the day, better strikers, better defenders and held their own in midfield and a keeper who was not indecisive (and you had him and let him go last season) Like your big brothers up the road FC Utd you and your supporters should not take Skelmersdale United lightly, we did the double over them last season and they bought a lot lot more supporters and were better behaved and gracious in defeat. Good luck I wish you well, but just because you suddenly have money does not give your team/club the right to ride roughshod over clubs/teams who do it the right way. Money can buy you players, but not team spirit.

Deluded you got the result your lads deserved on the day but to compare the keepers we did have last season and let him go because he wasnt upto the job and couldnt lace Jay's boots our forwards were not clinical up top on the day but we are up there as the leagues top scorers and same as the defence 1 off day does not define the season so to use the phrase "Better" is deluded. And you are defending the pitch like its wembley one half was very poor regardless of moorlane nobody said moorlane is an amazing surface its prob one of the worst at the minute but that doesnt take away at how poor skems pitch was. Behaviour of the fans and bringing fc utd into it really !! You won a couple of games against em whoopy do well done. I couldnt careless how many fans they had or didnt have and how behaved or not they were as we clearly smashed the place up ripped up seats beat up all the women and children threw our drinks at everyone and abused every skem fan around. DELUDED!!

I just don't see the point in blueboy making this post on a Tuesday morning three days after the game. There's a new set of fixtures tonight, so it's time to move on to them. Also, the majority of our fans on here have accepted that Skem were the better side on the day, so what is he trying to achieve? The other points have already been brought up by btb and hardly any of us have disagreed. What FC Utd have to do with it I don't know.

I was going to post a reply in response but I ain't taking the bait.
As for coming on to our forum three days later the reason for that is very evident. Skem have their own but no bleeder actually puts anything on it. Blueboy clearly didn't fancy talking to just himself and thought he'd come on here for a chat. I would have certainly obliged him if he'd actually posted something sensible!

We're a big scalp TD. We're also owned by people that other fans love to hate. I saw posts on here and Facebook complain about the ref and many other things. But I haven't read a single post from any Salford fan that didn't acknowledge that Skem were worth their win. But why let the truth get in the way of a good fishing trip?

Nice to hear and thanks. Think we had a few more chances than that, even your match report says we did! But to be honest how many clear cut chances did you create yourselves? Soem scrambles etc, but clear cut, not many. That mainly due to our defence, so give credit I hope you do well, really do, any honest fan will do the same. Jealouse as hell, but hope you make the most of the opportunity. But from yesterdays "fans" it seems you are already getting a few glory hunters with no history with you, no respect and who get so angry when they are refused their rightful win. Your lot never used to be like that, and thats sad. The idiots (wont call them fans) next to me and my lads were lucky not to be asked to leave or worse, the file, racist, homophobic crap they were shouting Anyway, hope you at least make the playoffs and would you to go up 1000% more than blythe, so good luck!! You need to wind ya neck inn Racist chants!!! Really back it up you can go spouting of with comments like that yes some were swearing but not at any point was anyone racist or homophobic calling a ref "bent" if thats what your refering too is a phrase used to say he has taken a bung. So grow up! And to say we didnt create the fan on here who priased you and said well done yet you still questioned him you need to grow up with your lies on racism and homophobic bull shite the very fact you brought that up shows your views on the subject as it has and never will be accecpted at salford city. Yes there was swearing born out of thrustration but nothing more arrgh does my head inn when people lie forums are for opinions not to start making it up and for the record this is Salford citys unofficial forum about our club so if ya dont like it sticknto your own. Im prob gonna get pelters on here aswell. And just a point the majority of the fans in the stand have followed this club for many season and are far from hangers on. Thanks for proving my point re the new bitter fans, such as you. Last time I checked I was big enought to post what I want where I want. And if you think idiots like you shouting racist, homophobic vile comments is OK, then its you that needs the help. Maybe some of your realy fans can have a word with this plonker? Its not lies, and if you were the very angry refd haired no-mark at the side of us (sounds like it) the one we were all laughing at (amd I mean everyone was laughing at you) then you are a discrace to your club

I don't recall our official match report or even any posters on this forum stating that "we were refused our rightful win". If anything I think all our supporters are in agreement that our overall performance and lack of cutting edge upfront was not deserving of anything other than the final outcome. We certainly created a number of gilt edged opportunities - maybe you weren't watching at the time - but unfortunately didn't capitalise on any of of them.
I have always regarded Skem as one of the better footballing sides that we have come up against in recent years but the blatant time wasting tactics that were started immediately at the start of the second half - and for the remainder of the game - were quite frankly embarrassing in the extreme and should have been clamped down on immediately by the referee who was clearly not up to the task and was aided and abetted by an equally clueless linesman. Absolutely no blame apportioned to the officials for our defeat but they were by far the worst officials I have had the misfortune to experience for many a long time and would be lucky to officiate a Sunday League game after their performance on Saturday.
Racist and homophobic crap? That's rich as I've been forced to listen to plenty of crap over the years directed towards our team and supporters by the gobshites behind the covered end who seem to think they are playing Manchester United and not Salford City!
When all said and done good luck for the rest of the season and hi to the ladies in the catering hut!!

Fair point and sometimes I cant argue that you are correct about a few of our "fans" at certain games. Apologies on their behalf from me, not nice when either set of fans do this
Good luck going forward, and I really mean it when I say you I hope you keep blyth from going up!
