Welcome to Moor Lane NW. Sounds like a positive and enthusiastic type of person. Not who we would have expected but I'm all for giving him a chance.

Of course I'll give him a chance and hope he is a roaring success. My issue isn't with him personally but the constant manager merry go round. I just hope we can have at least a couple of seasons of stability.

I just hope we can have at least a couple of seasons of stability. Spot on. Some people are having issues with this. But most people don’t care if we sack our manager every season or twice a season as long as Gary gets it right one day and we get promoted. I keep thinking, Integrity…..Industry. We need a new slogan.

Promotion after promotion has never been my be all and end all for following SCFC. I'll quite happily settle for watching a decent standard of football, winning more games than we lose with a decent cup run now and again coupled off course with a stable management structure. Anything on top of that is a bonus!

Good luck to him, I think the heavy insistence that he is a head coach on every outlet will only make the spot light on Casper and the owners recruitment strategy grower bigger and brighter.
Ironically and not sure what to read into it other than he is a dullard - Sky Sports, BBC, all the Reach media papers, The athletic have all cut Caspers comments from the club statement, in their reporting of Wood coming in.
I feel like there is a row back here on ‘promotion at all costs’ attitude from the owners on all the comments to date. Post Bowyer I think Gary Neville swerving the comments was a good PR, think a majority are a bit pissed off at his hypocrisy.
Todays retained list shows we need some serious quality adding to the squad. Centre-Back(X2), creative Centre Mid, wingers and another decent forward to back up Smith and BTA - although their is interest in him apparently. As I have said repeatedly recruitment needs to priority one for me, the distractions of the new manager and the AJ Bell developments need to be parked now, and the owners need to flex their self proclaimed financial muscles hard to get the right players In.

I sincerely hope the owners realise the manager need to have the main say on players coming in. He knows how he wants to play and who can best compliment what he’s got. If they think Casper doing this takes the strain off the manager, it doesn’t, because he then has to fit a square peg in a round hole. We need some serious quality and back-up across the board. But it has to be up-and-coming players…..not the on-the-way-down players. Fingers crossed.

There are suggestions, and they could be just that, that Butt and Scholes will be more hands-on with training this season.
Thoughts?

I'm all for the new gaffer being able to have a say in who comes into the squad but given his present level of work experience dealing only with youngsters he's surely not going to have any real knowledge of players in the EFL or the Championship. There'll still have to be input from our scouting network in identifying and recommending potential recruits and given we're not that far away from our pre-season schedule is why I think he'll have more of a say in recruitment come the January transfer window than in the closed season.

Chances are we've already identified who we'd like to bring in, or at least a well run scouting department should have. It's pretty obvious where we need to bring players in (midfield and attack) so I don't think Wood not being au fait with the EFL at this stage is a major issue provided Pinky and Perky have identified suitable players.
He might be of more use in his contacts and knowledge of u23 football in bringing in loanees or out of contract youngsters such as Bolton who could do a job for us.

I think this might be the best appointment since the Manu. bunch took you over. At least he's not another from the merry-go-round; I thought Bowyer was a particularly unimpressive choice. There's something more exciting about a young fellow taking his first senior job. You'll be lucky if he's another Neil Critchley but you never know. Good Luck!
