Simoes? He always seemed a punt but now not even on the bench? Not heard he was injured.

As expected Chapman has gone back to Huddersfield. He was a decent shot stopper but I thought he lacked a little bit in physique at this level. Grimsby seemed to target him a bit with corners and free kicks when he played against them at Moor Lane. I wonder if we have another back up keeper lined up?

He is a powerful player in and around the box, and offers a good amount of energy in the forward line. Might mean Connor Mac being a traditional ten as opposed to being on the left channel. Interesting to see what this means for one of Smith, Bailey, Connor Mac and Cal Hendry. Tony Watt’s name was linked with us over the weekend and Gassan Ahadme from Ipswich as a potential loan. Of the three would take Bakayoko all day long.

First signing is Alex Cairns, keeper from Fleetwood on loan. He's very experienced at L1 level so will be genuine competition for King if not taking over as first choice. Good signing I reckon

Good signing I reckon My first and immediate impression on just running a quick eye over that on our Club website was that this guy's rather senior to come here as a number 2.
... I was half-expecting the very next piece of Salford Club news to be about TK having gone off somewhere ...

I've said it before but I think King is a decent enough shot stopper but given his build I don't think he imposes himself nearly enough in his six yard box. His distribution is suspect at times and he tends to be a 'puncher' rather than a 'catcher'. I reckon Alex Cairns might well make his debut at Cheltenham Town in the EFL Trophy next week.

Marcus Dackers has gone on loan till the end of the season with National League side Woking who won 2-1 at Dagenham & Redbridge today with Dackers coming on as a 78th minute substitute. Think it's a good move for him as he definitely needs building up in terms of game time and character.

Just when I thought we need 2/3 signings, I think we possibly need around 5.
Yesterday we had two youth/development players on the bench, McAleny looks like he had another injury, is Vassell going to be out for potentially two weeks with a possible concussion, Nartay missing off the bench yesterday, Mallan is still reducing his handicap on the golf course.
I’m quite concerned with the depth of the squad to be honest, and see us struggling to get a top 7 spot if we don’t get that depth.

The elephant in the room is the out of contract players come the end of the season. Connor Mac and Lund are apparently not being offered new deals and are free to leave in Jan so injuries maybe a blessing in disguise short term in order to keep them around post Feb.1st. Jack Jenkins I thought would’ve followed Chapman back to his parent club because he has been MIA on the team sheets of late, Tolaj maybe the same to allow us to go go again on the loan front. But I am surprised calamity Cairns has been the only addition of late.

I thought Jenkins was on his way back to Leeds and may still do, but if not he must be carrying an injury as he would at least make the bench surely? Interesting re Lund and McAleny, the former doesn’t offer a great deal and the latter is ridiculously injury prone so no surprise if they are being released. I would think Stevie of the 6th green is in danger of having his contract ended in summer as he has been a massive liability. All that would suggest at least one forward if not a couple plus a midfielder coming in, presumably in a mix of loan and permanent signings. Our squad is very short on numbers and needs additions if the 2nd half of the season isn't to just fizzle away.

Looks like we have missed out on another one - Bolton Wanderers striker Amadou Bakayoko is on the verge of a move to Forest Green. This on top of Ross Doohan from Tranmere is good business from FGR regardless of them staying in L1.
This is the kind of calibre of players I have felt we should be in for more frequently and I am not sure why we are not.
