It's all been said before. We need to win on Monday as well as at Stevenage to stand any chance at all of grabbing a play off place. That said, if we do we are still reliant on Mansfield, Swindon and Sutton all dropping points in their final fixtures next weekend. A miracle you say? Indeed it would be but they do happen now and again! I say let's go all guns blazing against The Stags and hit them with everything we've got. COYA!

Hopefully knowing that anything less than a win effectively ends our season means the team have the shackles off and take the game to them. It should be a lively atmosphere as I believe a load of Mansfield fans have bought tickets in the home sections, hopefully they behave themselves and take defeat gracefully 😀
It doesn't seem 5 minutes since the first game of the season and another one is drawing to a close. I'm getting old

Hi guys,
North west based Brentford fan in peace. I am coming along tomorrow (cash purchase so west stand for me) and was hoping to get some pointers on which players to look out for, best places to park etc. hoping for a good game and a Salford win. Ground number 76 for me so slowly creeping up towards the 92!

Ground number 76 for me so slowly creeping up towards the 92! Hi, welcome. Parking is a bit scarce as there's a residents parking scheme and double yellows so leave plenty of time to arrive early. Oaklands Road or Kersal Road are usually OK or there's an estate on Chapel Road, Prestwich which is about 15 minutes walk and usually has space. Google maps will help you find them. Matt Smith up front for us is a handful for defenders and Brandon Thomas Asante is like the Duracell bunny and usually entertaining. Hope you enjoy the game. We're due to move to a new (to us) stadium in 2023 so it will give you a good excuse to visit us again for the 92.

Thanks so much for the pointers chipbarm, will bear that in mind for the parking.
Fantastic news about the new stadium.
Hoping for a good match with you guys having an outside chance of the play offs so should be well up for it. Looking forward to finally getting along to see you guys play.

Love your summary of BTA, chip. Made me laugh out loud. No doubt it'll ring true with northwestbee when he sees Brandon bombing up the pitch tomorrow.

Well I’m glad I decided to watch from my sofa, based on that runner-up first half performance. Men against boys, Clough against Bowyer, Turnbull against himself and losing….
We have a Newport reject in goal they have a MU loanee, we have a Millwall reject, they have Matty Longstaffe, so much for us having influential owners!
Let’s face it GN and PS (watching on), you are reaping exactly what you sowed this season, mid-table, middle-of-the-road, average. Rather like you said at the start… For next season, please try harder, put more effort in, and clear out the journeyman and higher division dross.
7/10 could do better, owners, manager and team.

Well I'm glad that I watched it from behind the goal in the West Stand. Really enjoyed it. The intensity of the Salford attack in the final 10 minutes was very exciting to to be a part of ... and, it could so easily have ended 3-2 Salford.

If you look at that game over 90 minutes, it sums up the highs and lows of our season I’m sure we’ll debate who’s coming and going in the days and weeks to come, but we can’t feel hard done to. Over 30 games, we are around 4th in the form table. The first 15 games or so defined our season in the end. We need to hit the ground running next season.

I enjoyed the game today, pretty much a full house and a good atmosphere and 2nd half especially I thought we were the more dominant team. A draw was a fair result over the 90 minutes but what on earth was Turnbull thinking of when he handled it? I couldn't really make out exactly what happened from near the tunnel but I can't understand why a player would stick his hand high up in the air when jumping for a header regardless.
I thought both Turnbull and Vassell looked a bit dodgy at times today, with Turnbull especially misjudging a few bounces and getting done for pace once or twice. Why Vassell attempted a Beckenbauer impression in the first half only to lose the ball God knows and again he looked a bit slow now and again. On the plus side BTA looked very lively and his cross for the equaliser was superb. Watson had a good 2nd half too and Touray was steady and looked something like his old self at times.
It's season over as far as promotion is concerned of course but with a few shrewd buys in summer we should be up around the top end of the table next season if we can carry on our form from the 2nd half of the season.

Yes, agree with your decision Alanb, in the 2nd half we were better and it looked entertaining.
Let’s hope for a better season next time, and then on to the new stadium.

I thought from your previous post, saleford, that you'd turned off at halftime in disgust. And, if you had of done, you would have been left with an inaccurate impression of how we performed over the full 90 minutes. Sure: their movement, passing, speed, slickness - everything - was better than ours for most of the first half. BUT, second half, as the clock ticked down they were looking more weary and less up for it than we were - they were noticeably beginning to misplace many passes at a time when we'd suddenly become a lot sharper and focused. In the final quarter of the 90 we were looking more and more the stronger side in my view ... and one of the increasing number of pops that we were getting into their danger area could very well have resulted in a jammy third goal for us. Then ... who knows how the game (and the season) could have ended for us.
"WE'RE NOT GOING UP!" "We're not going up!" And yet still I feel surprisingly upbeat after watching today's game.

Interesting to hear the GMR Radio post match reaction with former Salford player and Rochdale manager Steve Eyre when he succinctly summed up the afternoon. When our own very own forum poster bronco suggested that "Salford should have had a really good go" Eyre's responded by saying that they did but unfortunately it just wasn't good enough as we don't possess enough decent players to be able to open up opposition defences and that we didn't control enough of the midfield. Have to say that I fully agree with him. Unlike so many other teams (and that includes Mansfield) who play quick flowing and incisive passing football in comparison we are far too slow and laborious in our build thus allowing their defences to be packed and prepared. Yes we gave it our best shot but a seemingly inept free kick decision against JT compounded by a less than impressive attempt at trying to save the shot gifted them an equaliser. And as for the penalty award! No question at all about it despite people claiming that JT was pushed in the back and anyway why was his hand that high in the air? Great cross from BTA and finish from Matty Lund who was unlucky with another effort not much later but to be honest every time Mansfield drove forward I thought they were going to grab a winner and might well have done if not for some sterling work by Matty Smith who was imense in defence. I'm disappointed that we couldn't get the win but it's not the end of the world. Will be interesting though to see how many players we shed/lose before the start of next season and whether of course GB will still be in charge!

Just an afterthought. It's quite normal for our goalscorers to be interviewed after the match by one of our media team - and the interview shown on 'Salford Twitter'. So... there's an interview for us to watch with the scorer of our second goal, Matty Lund; but why not an interview with the scorer of our first goal? As I'm sure that we'd all be interested to hear JT's own explanation of exactly what that incident with the hand was all about.

And they never cover them in the highlights either.
